Re: RIDICULOUS!

Welcome back to the Forum, Valhoun 8) :D . It's been almost a year :( . I hope you're doing okay and that you'll be able to come here more often. Where in Iraq are you, or aren't you allowed to post such information? How I wish you were Stateside and free to attend Leonard's concerts, and I'm hopin...

Re: Some musings

Thank you for your kind words. I have very little free time but I will make an effort to stick around for awhile, ya know?

Some musings

One day I'll love to know you So far from the war But tomorrow never reaches The steps of my front door The body laced with metal The mind wired, too But the spirit's always willing To come hobbling back to you The horizon stretches on For a purpose I can't defy But the bleeding, beating heart Is st...

Re: RIDICULOUS!

Well, I couldn't get tickets either. However, it could have something to do with being in Iraq. It sucks so bad that my unit got deployed in September and won't be back until this coming September. If I miss the entire North American tour I will be really frustrated. But, as for the ticketmaster thi...

Re: No US Dates (...yet)

I was really hoping for US dates in May. My National Guard unit is getting activated in September to go to Iraq so I won't be around during the Winter if he tours the US then.

Scalping a ticket and driving to Canada really isn't economical at the moment, either.

Modern Times by Bob Dylan

The album comes out on August 28th and the buzz is saying that it is even better than "Time Out of Mind" and "Love and Theft". This website posted scans of an upcoming Uncut Magazine that gave the album 5 stars. All of the leaked reviews state that there are three or four songs t...

Then again, if a Leonard Cohen song is appropriate to represent a couple, there are some pros and cons.

On the positive side, it likely means that the couple is in a deep, meaningful relationship.

On the negative side, it likely means that no one has any business wearing white :).

Ya know, William Shatner's version of "Common People" is so, so much better than Pulp's :)

Thankfully, a ton of Dylan was released on SACD. Not really much else matters, does it? :)

There is a myth that states that Leonard Cohen has a bad voice and sings depressing songs.

That isn't so.

He has a beautiful voice and sings happy songs.

The only depressing song is a bad song.

I've read (can't recall where, sorry) that ACL really wants to release Cohen on DVD and it's more of a matter of when rather than if.

I've been in for 5 years exactly, I've was activated once for a year in the summer of 2003 to guard a base, but that was stateside. It wasn't too bad but I missed a lot of college. I missed another semester last fall when my Unit was sent down to New Orleans for a month. That was pretty crazy. Anywa...

I'm in the National Guard, so I might have drill the weekend of the book signing. But, if I don't, I guess I'll have no choice but to drive from Pennsylvania to Toronto. It's a short 16 hours :).

Dylan Touring

I have seen Dylan about 8 times in the last few years. His voice is shot and his body thin. His vocal chords operate off of pure willpower and his arthritic fingers barely can pound an electric piano that is dialed down in the mix so as to be inaudible. That being said, he is doing some of his most ...
