Re: Leonard fans - what else do we share in common?

Hi Eve, I'm a noob too. Musically I like anything that's done well. There's so much crap out there masquerading as good music. The only genre that I'd draw a line through is rap. I've yet to find anything worthwhile there and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I love classical and traditional...

Re: A new Hallelujah

--- if you use LC as a litmus test, I fear you will be shocked at how many otherwise wonderful folks in the USA will respond.... "who?" dick-Have no fear, the litmus test is not whether or not someone has heard of LC, it's whether or not they can appreciate his work. It's kind of like how...

Re: A new Hallelujah

I've been finding and listening to various covers of 'Hallelujah'. There are some interesting interpretations of it but amazingly I haven't found one that tops the 'Unplugged' version. Even Bon Jovi's live versions aren't as good. Jon seems to have a little trouble remembering which verse he's on. (...

Lizzy- Before: http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k79/ksemmler/Photo006.jpg And after (too big for the space allowed but you get the idea): http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k79/ksemmler/photo004.jpg I had to giggle. Braiding manes and tails is also an art form and quite lucrative for those that can ...

Re: A new Hallelujah

Wow, ice skating and LC. I don't know enough yet to pair skaters and songs but I love skating. Thankfully American TV figured out that there's a good market for skating shows during (and while airing) football (season). I've always been a Brian Boitano fan. I love the hand-in-the-air triples. I wond...

Re: A new Hallelujah

Lizzy, I Googled 'enunciating' and found several sites for study and practice. I'll let you do the investigating!

Re: A new Hallelujah

I should clarify what a diphthong (correct spelling 8) ) is. In phonetics, a diphthong (also gliding vowel) (Greek “diphthongos”, literally “with two sounds,” or “with two tones”) is a monosyllabic vowel or combination involving a quick but smooth movement from one vowel to another, often interprete...

Re: So cruel and so bright.

Do you think love and light can come without its cruelty? Without the pain? Without being so bright? A couple of thoughts came to mind. When I was about to have my daughter I was apprehensive about the new so-called natural childbirth and just how much pain I could be in. The best answer I got was ...

Re: A new Hallelujah

Lizzy, good point on Neil Diamond! Good diction is not often found nor adequately appreciated. There is an art to it. I was fortunate to have top notch directors for the choirs in which I've sung. By the time I was 9 I knew what a dipthong is, to form the 'H' before the 'W' in words like where and w...

Re: A new Hallelujah

Thanks for the warm welcome. I knew as soon as I read the lyrics for Hallelujua that my life had taken an important turn. I'm sure the song means many things to many people but the biggest thing for me was a feeling of recognition. Finally I found words that I myself could not summon. It's possible ...

Re: A new Hallelujah

Thanks secretchord. No doubt I'll end up with all of his stuff. Where might I find a chronology of his work?

A new Hallelujah

I have just discovered LC via (of all people) Bon Jovi. (I don’t watch Scrubs or The OC and didn't watch Shrek long enough to hear it.) They are doing a cover of ‘Hallelujah’ on their ‘Bon Jovi Unplugged’ concert currently airing on CMT and VH1 in the US and are scheduled for MTV next month. It’s al...
