Re: never-ending gallery

I love the portraits of your local townspeople, G. I prefer them to the famous people, sometimes prefer them to Leonard even. There's kindness in your rendering, warmth :D

Re: never-ending gallery

You're right, Geoffrey, I grew up in a family of business people who made business their first priority. I spent a lot of time entertaining myself. My mom was an artist who let business take over until she got sick. When she got sick she had time for me. When she got sick we became best friends. Mak...

Re: never-ending gallery

perhaps ' the significance of the slashes ' is an attempt to highlight that someone exists'. despite being silent, despite having nothing worthwhile to share, a person still has feelings, has value. In a very loving way I feel called out. It's almost like I can hear a better version of my long dead...

Re: never-ending gallery

I'm curious about the significance of the slashes. Now I did read your suggestions a few posts back just interested if you wanted to say anything about them?

Re: never-ending gallery

An enjoyable read, Lisa, even if I'm feeling incapable of contributing anything. Lately I feel a bit disconnected from my abilities, though disconnected isn't quite right. I'm blown away by Geoffrey's drawings, every last one of them, blown away by efforts that end in pictures that look like their o...

His hair, especially that bit above the right eye, reminds me of cave paintings of swimmers. I feel a lot of joy in this one :)

Re: never-ending gallery

Just blows my mind how you're able to absolutely capture a person. When I doodle I move my writing utensil across the page almost absentmindedly until something materializes & then it becomes something almost on its own. That's what the sad lady was. In response to billie, https://m.youtube.com/...

Re: never-ending gallery

I remember reading that, it was posted somewhere long ago but in my manic sifting through the forum a couple months ago I stumbled upon it. 2010 doesn't seem so long ago in Leonard years but in ordinary years it may as well be a lifetime. Cold comfort indeed. But also it's quite the call to action.

Re: never-ending gallery

Sometimes I look back at what I've written & can't find the sense in it. That happened this time. What you'd written about Leonard seemed provocative but now doesn't seem so at all. You're right. Forgive me. Is it in poor taste to share what Leonard wrote about god? If not, will you? I understan...

Re: never-ending gallery

Hi Lisa. I can't help but hear a description of Leonard in what you've most recently written, a much more polite or perhaps generous way of putting it than G.'s bit about Leonard studying scripture like any other piece of literature. I like the idea that beliefs are what sort of settles at the botto...

Re: never-ending gallery

There's an element of faith whether the object is god or quantum physics because you just can't see round the back of a thing. I like to say jury's out on science. Just like jury's out on god, there's nothing but experience. Can't believe I'm putting in my two cents. Welp. Anybody listen to Nick Cav...

Re: never-ending gallery

Have you been baptized, G., & do you think it's important? We thought about it for my daughter but settled on a blessing from one of the monks at a monastery I've been visiting for twentysome years. I saw a woman be baptized once, I was in elementary school, maybe preschool, the impression it le...
