Hi BlueMask - actually, that's a song I'd like to hear Cohen cover; I'd also like to hear Lou Reed cover "The Future".

I"m pretty eclectic. My first post-secondary education life was studying classical guitar and renaissance lute, which accounts for some items on the list.

No, what I meant by the heresy comment was that I note the veneration many of the posters here use when speaking of Cohen's work. I was trying to make a play on words to the effect that I don't exactly worship him, nor do I expect others, too. OK, I think we've beaten that issue to death! My ...

. . ."However, your comments are in the form of conjecture, as though you've never even tried , and even as though she's never been exposed! " I'm not sure how to read that - what's to expose? I certainly enjoy his music and writing, but I don't view his work as a 3rd millenium gospel that...

No, I doubt my wife would be really interested in Cohen's music, although she'd probably like cover versions; I think she'd find him a little "rough" vocally (although I realize that doesn't make sense in light of her interest in Zevon). No accounting for taste, I realize; she likes some a...

Zevon actually produced 2 albums in the last 18 months or so of his life; the final one, "The Wind", is at the same time very touching and poignant, but also quite hard edged in some songs - typical of most of his work. My wife is a bigger fan of his than I am (and I like his music very we...

I'm sure it will be on television at some point. No, I couldn't take any more time away myself, and it would be a long haul for me anyway (Maine to Tennessee).

I bought my vinyl (I know, I'm showing my age) about 18 years ago; I notice the Amazon.com has it on CD as of today. Yes, it's a little obscure - 'In the day", a lot of British artists got their start on the BBC, and various and sundry record companies have been releasing these artists' old tap...

Lizzy: I heartilly agree. And once again, I highly recommend the Fairport Convention's cover on the CD "Heyday - BBC Radio Sessions 1968-9". Sandy Denny's voice was a powerful instrument with its own unique dramatic quality.

Fairport Convention covered this, too, back in the late '60s, as well as "Suzanne".
