London, 02 Arena, July 17 tickets

Now I've decided to try for the O2, I promise not to push and to wait in the queue ... (... if anyone else is going to the O2 too........???)

I agree 02 is a pretty hopeless venue for Leonard - much too big and of course Ticketmaster totally randomly allocate tickets on their computer. A group of us went to see Mark Knopfler and EmmyLou Harris at Wembley which I guess is if anything smaller than 02. Ticketmaster had exclusive ticket rights to that and my sister logged in umpteen times to try to get better tickets nearer the stage but in the end we had to settle for seats on the ramped up sides towards the back. When we arrived there were plenty of spare seats much closer to the stage - several empty banks in one case - and at the same price. And the sound at Wembley was ghastly. Usually the sound at bad stadiums is badly balanced and too loud. Madonna and the Boss are exceptions. There are nearly always sound problems at Wembley and 02. I think many sound engineers have lost part of their hearing over the years and also the stars now have those in-ear mikes so cannot tell how it sounds to the audience.

I got some complementary tickets to see the Stones at Twickenham last year and while the sound was OK, they were so far away they looked like ants. I do agree that Leonard would have been much better in the Royal Albert Hall or the Hammersmith Apollo. I saw him in the Albert Hall back in the 80s and it was magical. I would consider going to Manchester to see Leonard, even though I am a Londoner, if you all think the venue is better. Can anyone tell us what it is like?

BTW you can see Leonard get his Hall of Fame award on Youtube. He recites Tower of Song as his acceptance speech.

I was lucky enough to see The Man during The Future tour, (maybe '95?) I was blown away by the venue, the sound was amazing. He began the second set with Avalanche - just his guitar. To hear those notes echo around the old building and mixing with all that history felt so uplifting.

I can't see the O2 having the same affect, but it is Len so I'll be there.

can anyone help me with some question regarding the 02 (i have never been and i am usually not into arena type stuff, so i am a bit lost).

on the website there are seating plans but not one for our man. i took a look at the neil diamond plan, to see how IT MIGHT be set out.

1)i see there are a number of blocks.
are there seats within the blocks ? are these assigned seats or do you have 'first come first served' within a block ? or is it standing ? and how many people approx fit into a block. (what i am thinking is that i would go if i can get reasonably close to the front, otherwise i will travel to another destination - and maybe both.......)

2) someone mentioned RANDOM ticket allocation - is that common for this venue via ticketmaster. sounds very weird, so even you are first in the queue, you dont geta choice of tickets ? and woudl that be the same over the phone as well as on the net ?

questions, questions, i know !

I wonder just how feasible Leonard playing the O2 Arena is. It seats 20 000 people. I know he has a fanatic fan base (ala us) but 20k of people who want to see a man who hasnt toured in 15 years and has practically dropped off the radar (apart from the Rock N Roll induction)?

I really do hope it sells out, it would be such an impressive achievement, a 73 yr old man selling out a 20k seating venue, but me, Im going for the Manchester Hall, I despise London with a passion.

Good luck tomorrow morning everyone!!!! Pity about the venue..... it's huge and impersonal. Like a lot of people have said you can't choose where you sit - which is a bit of a liberty! Pity it's not the Southbank or the Barbican where you have a say about where you sit and at least get to see the man himself.

The 6pm entry is a hospitality package - £285!!! I don't think I will be clicking on that item.
