All very fair points but the cost is surely the the same no matter the cost of the ticket. So why then is the size of the booking fee almost always dependent on the cost of the ticket. The higher the ticket price the higher the fee. In addition I have paid £3 for the tickets to be sent to me by standard mail which is a rip off plain and simple.confetti wrote:Well it is more than handing over a ticket. We have to be in on time to sell the tickets for start, pay for electricity, bank fees, (which are extortionate by the way), higher insurance in case of robbery, and having to listen to sometimes intolerable abuse when something sells out in front of the customer.

oh that is probably in box offices, my handling fee is the same whether the ticket is £10 or £200, however the credit card fee does go up because the bank charges by percentage, so the more goes through the machine the more it costs.

Re: Manchester shows
Am very excited about my stalls seats for Friday 20th on the tour that everyone's already calling the "I Need You To Kill A Child Tour". Any chance of a pre-show meet up?
Meanwhile, here is a picture of leonard warmly congratulating me on getting tickets:

Re: Manchester shows
sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but have all the Manchester shows gone on sale and sold out, or is the 19th still to go on sale?

Confetti, people are saying The Guardian have the allocation but I don't know how/when they're being sold.

The Guardian newspaper has reserved the 19th June concert for their readers, details will be in the 4th April edition of the paper.confetti wrote:sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but have all the Manchester shows gone on sale and sold out, or is the 19th still to go on sale?

Re: Manchester shows
Sounds like it was all a bit mad for the Manchester tickets!
I lined up at 8.30am this morning at my local ticket shop (Ripping Records) in Edinburgh. I was 5th in line, yes, only 4 in front of me!
They opened at 8.45, about 30mins early which was nice, and I got 2 tickets for the front. Edinburgh Castle is about 8000 capacity but I think thats when there is standing in front of stage (proclaimers, Runrig etc) so myabe less for LC.
Still, quite suprised that it was all so easy, and still for sale as I speak.
It's not that far up here you know, and a cooler venue than the O2 for sure (temperature as well I would bet!)

Re: Manchester shows
Nice to note that an official at the Manchester Opera house informed me on Wednesday that the ONLY way to obtain tickets was through Ticketmaster. He neglected to say that had I driven to Manchester on Friday morning I could have bought them at the Palace Theatre. Needless to say I now don't have any tickets - this may be my last posting, my wife will probably kill me when she gets home (I stayed at the computer from 08.00 until 13.30 with the webpage telling me that tickets were "currently not on sale"). In fact they had been sold out in 20 minutes (confirmed by another phone call to a helpful little man at the stage door).
I suppose when the Titanic is sinking then it's everyman (and tout) for him/herself. I'm now going out to buy some wine and a pack of razor blades.
Ticketmaster sucks and so does e-bay for allowing the tickets to be (illegally?) sold at higher than face value.

It is perfectly legal to resell gig tickets at whatever price you want. Unpleasant, unethical but legal.john_warriner wrote: Ticketmaster sucks and so does e-bay for allowing the tickets to be (illegally?) sold at higher than face value.
Re: Manchester shows

Thanks coldbeer! What I really wanted was a bit of sympathy... At least I did see Leonard at Leeds University in 1970 - I'm pretty sure he was much better then so now I don't feel too disappointed!
Re: Manchester shows
Not sure how you can blame Ticketmaster. You were on the PC 2 hours before, when they were not on sale and 2 hours after, when they had sold out.
If you had got your ass in gear and tried at 1000 for 20 minutes you would have got tickets.

I'm not sure that's entirely called for, Rodin.Rodin wrote:Not sure how you can blame Ticketmaster. You were on the PC 2 hours before, when they were not on sale and 2 hours after, when they had sold out.

John -- I do really sympathise with you and all other genuine fans who were unable to get tickets but I'm not certain why you were unable to purchase. I tried at around 10:01 and managed to get a couple for Manchester through Ticketmaster. Maybe you weren't refreshing the page? Or on the wrong page? I'm not sure what you were looking at but the tickets were definitely on sale at the stated time though they did seem to sell out very quickly indeed. I called my wife to tell her the good news and she asked me to see if I could get a couple for her brother, but they seem to have all gone by then. It was probably around 10:15 latest.

Yay I got a ticket for the 17th of June show at Manchester
I've never posted on here before, but have been a member for awhile, but a fan of Cohen for a good number of years now. Ever since I was 16, I was afraid I'd never see him play live, and now I can put those fears to rest. Hurray!

I know it's crooked, but it's the only game in town...
