Leonard Cohen tickets scam, Ice Skating rip-off

Hello everyone, please check and double check your tickets. I thought I had purchased front row seats for the O2 concert and I have but it turns out to be for an Ice Skating show. I have asked Jarkko if Leonard is doing any of his shows on Ice but he hasn't replied yet. I am praying that Jarkko is seeking confirmation from Leonard and the answer is that Leonard is indeed performing on Ice but personally I am not optimistic, for a number of reasons

1. no ice performance has been publicised

2. Leonard, no disrespect, is probably not a particularly good skater

3. the Doctors may forbid him to take the risk

These are the details that came with the confirmation email

It also seems to me that the organisers would be bound to have mentioned Leonard in the material if he really is playing there.

ok, I will check. but I am also worried about a family getting all their skating gear on and then turning up to see Leonard singing. How are they going to take that?

It's unlikely Leonard is performing on ice at 02 Arena because that concert is on July 17, which is the middle of summer. However, since this world tour supposedly will run into 2009, perhaps one or two of his shows during winter months will take place on ice.

oh! that's fantastic news!!! I wonder if we will be allowed to skate with him. I would do anything to skate alongside him then "accidentally" swoon into his arms!!!

ok, latest on Leonard and ice-skating. Jarkko has not got back to me nor posted on the forum. But someone here raised with me the safety issue of Leonard holding the microphone whilst skating. What if he fell over and the ice caused a short in the electrics and he frizzled all up and died from the electric shock.

I know everyone has their own favourites but for me that is surely one of the very worst ways to die and it would be really bad luck on his comeback tour to expire in front of so many fans in that way.

so even though I have been scammed out of my money I actually hope the rumours are untrue and thinking about his safety I pray he does not perform any of his concerts on ice.

actually you've got a good point but I don't know if Winter Lady was really autobiographical or just made up.

I am now finding Jarkko's silence rather ominous and it looks as if Leonard really is going for the ice skating concert scenario.

It's sometimes difficult to say if a member is joking or not. In case it was a serious question I have to confirm that Leonard is NOT performing in an ice-show! He and the whole band will be standing on the stage!!

I found this thread funnier when I opened my tickets for the Montreal show and found an insterted ad for another show to be held at Place des Arts called "Le Lac Des Cygnes - Sur Glace" (Swan Lake on Ice)!!!

Just when I was satisfied by Jarkko's answer it turns out that Leonard IS appearing on ice at Montreal. Well, Bravo to him but I think he is quite mad. Also, will the microphone lead be long enough?

I am both disappointed and yet relieved. These were my first 3 emotions anyway until I read the later post confirming that Leonard is skating at Montreal.

Well I guess it was bound to happen! With the annoucement of a new tour of a legend who is rooted in the 60's and 70's naturally a few left-over burn-outs from that era would resurface. If the idea of a "Leonard on Ice" show does not sound like the brainchild of someone who has spent a little to much time hitting the bong then I really don't know what does .

what is a "bong"? If you are referring to the drums being playes on ice then I agree with you that will be a big problem indeed. but with Leonard himself leading the skating followed by the backing singers and other musicians it will be ridiculous of the drums player alone is left on some wooden stage! I don't want to be rude but you must be on drugs to suggest that!
