Not a big concert goer, but I went to see Harry Manx recently and was enthralled by the percussionist who accompanied him. Then I find that our friend Andrew Darby is a fan of the percussionist Yeshe too.
His playing and singing can be heard on the website by clicking on CD and samples of his music found there. He plays and instrument called the mbira which I had never heard of prior to seeing him onstage. I have just ordered his CD and am looking forward to being able to listen to the rest of the songs sampled on his site.

Very interesting reading all of y'all's posts.
Unfortunately, I'm not that much of a concert person because the surroundings at concerts usually are not very amenable for a clear and distinct experience.
The concerts am proud of having seen recently: Dylan, Bo Diddley(las Vegas), JJ Walker, Hal Ketchum, in the 70's Supertramp.

Haven't been to many concerts. Last concert I attended was Jewel and that was before her music got bad.

I've also seen and met Counting Crows.

Hi Lissa,

(It probably seems strange to you, but) I hadn't heard Jewel or Counting Crows, so I checked them out on youtube. I liked the songs that I heard by each of them. Check out my favourite young singer Elin Ruth Sigvardsson...she's from Sweden but sounds as if she could be American. I suspect you might like her, as she would seem to fit in with some of the other artists that you listen to.

All good things, John E

Hi Ninaspacechild,

That's a tasteful list, with plenty of quality female vocalists in there (including the great P.P. Arnold who is backing Roger Waters).
Okay, let's do gigs coming up this year. Mine so far are: Leonard Cohen (x 2), Julie Felix (x 2), Terry Reid and Mick Taylor, Brian Wilson, Barry McGuire (possibly), and Baby Lemonade (Love without Arthur Lee), possibly x 3 .

All good things, John E

I forgot 2

David Sylvian
Brian Ferry

ooh 3!

Gary Numan - I know, he should have stayed forgotten......actually he wasn't half bad. My son treated me to the tickets so I could hardly refuse, especially as he'd had to suffer listening to him as a child :D

Hi Annie,

You've reminded me that I've seen Neil Finn since 2000. I saw him at a folk evening that Patti Smith presented at The Royal Festival Hall. Also featured were Roy Harper, Bert Jansch, Beth Orton and Johnny Marr, amongst others. Patti sang two Joan Baez songs!

I've never seen Rod Stewart or David Bowie solo, but I saw The Faces and Roxy Music (both a couple of timesi) in the early Seventies.
In fact, I saw Roxy Music two nights in sucession supporting David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust show at The Rainbow Theatre.

Hi John, firstly, mmmmmm Johnny Marr :D had to get that out of my system. The second Mr Annie b was a big Rodders fan so we went a few times. Always a good show. I had seen him in San Bernadino in the early 90's with a friend I was staying with. His house was near the bowl and he got us all tickets. My sister bought me the Bryan Ferry tickets for a birthday a few moons ago. Ooh, I forgot Neil Diamond (excellent) and Barry Manilow (strange). Honestly! Not on the same venue mind. Amazing how it all comes back. Current partner big gig fan as am I and we spend far too much of our hard earned cash on tickets.....and wine.....and cd's.....and wine....

Enjoyed Crowded House together more than Neil alone. That was very nearly clever :D

Saw Bowie loads through 70's and 80's then he did a small gig at a very intimate venue in Leeds that really blew me away. Can't remember the exact year and my tickets are all boxed up since I moved.

I am so excited about Sam Baker tomorrow and Wednesday. I can't wait! I love having music to look forward to.

Live is best!

Best Regards,

Annie b.

I'm so impressed by the amount of shows listed above (especially John's :!: )..my list is sadly very short, including:

- Bob Dylan
- Elvis Costello
- Pearl Jam

and some italians band/songwriters:
- P.F.M. (maybe this one is also well-known in other Europe countries )
- Ludovico Einaudi
- Marco Parente
- Paolo Benvegnù
- Perturbazione
- Giulio Casale

I hope to be able to add Bjork and Bonnie Prince Billy shows (both taking place this summer) to my poor list.

Well, well, well...fancy you being a Nightwish fan, Jarkko.
I'm more a fan of Within Temptation. I've sampled some Nightwish and was intrigued.
