Welcome wildrose and A'af. Don't hesitate to go ahead and get the other albums, wildrose. I had presumed you to be a woman, given your name, wildrose. What prompted you to choose it? By the way, [for all new listeners], The Essential had to stop somewhere, but the unincluded ones could well have been included.

Ok I will be newer than the new (that made no sense). Lately I've been listening to 'Death Of A Ladies' Man' when I work, so I would say it's my favorite. BUT if I would have to recomend an album to someone new to Cohen I would say 'The Future' no wait! I mean 'Ten New Songs' but 'Cohen Live' has a nice mix....OH HELL! You can borrow my whole collection! (stop at 88'? you, sir, are talking crazy!)

thanks voor welcoming me. why did I choose the name Wild Rose? well maybe you remember the song 'Where the wild roses grow' by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue. In this song Kylie sings "they call me the wild rose".
I just like the song very much, and I wanted to refer to the song with my user name

chani wrote:hello everyone(especially wildrose, i'm glad there's someone "newer" than me) and thank you for your answers; i think i'll just take whatever comes into my hand and so on. margaret, now i really am interested in the life versions, i think they are great.

Suddenly the night has grown colder.
Some deity preparing to depart.
Alexandra hoisted on his shoulder,
they slip between the sentries of your heart. this is for wildrose, as an welcoming present
lol :D but yeah, the song seems to be written for me.
I always felt like I was bewildered by a meaning and then I found out that Cohen had even written a song about it. wow :| I was very surprised.

Hey, Wild Rose ~

 ~ told you you'd come to like, respect, and appreciate Leonard more  ~ didn't expect the evidence to begin mounting so few a number of posts later :D . Leonard is a writer's writer.

Aha ~ well, if I knew Nick Cave better, I wouldn't have had such a difficult time figuring out your name 8) . Thanks for the information :) .

everybody have already welcomed you chani and wildrose but i'd also like to do that. WELCOME to the forum!
I hope i'm "old" enough to do that :D
I also planned to buy the essential but i gave up the idea. The problem is that there are just to little of the songs i like. If i understand correctly the songs are chosen by LC himself. I' replace some of the songs on it with others. Of course i have been a fan for a very little time and maybe i can't aprecciate some songs enough...
So i'll just have to buy all his albums... Unfortunately i can listen only to two: Ten New Songs- a birthday present to my mother and LC Live
My own favourites? very difficult to say.. They change every day. I love the live version of Suzanne. I love Dance me to the end of love...
My favourites... Oh.. I love allmost all of his songs....
The best on Ten New: Love itself becuse of the peacefulness
1000 kisses deep for its sadness...
PS: wildrose. Nick Cave's Wild Roses is one of my favourite songs too

:D, though it's not called 'wild rose', but 'where the wild roses grow' :P
Outside I sit on the stone steps
With nothing much to do
Forlorn and exhausted, baby
By the absence of you

Dear Anne Nadarkane ~

Welcome, welcome, and welcome again :D !!! I am so sorry to have missed saying that the first time around, as when you said, "(stop at 88'? you sir, are talking crazy!)," I thought, "I SO agree!!!" And when you said, "OH HELL! You can borrow my whole collection!," I thought, " ~ Yeah, and sometimes I've almost played my whole collection [trying to get someone to realize that they love Leonard as much as I do]!" None of it got verbalized, but it sure went on in my head :D . Sometimes the hello's get said on a backtrack. You should not have had to say "Hello" to yourself, however :( !

Unlike Leonard's, "I stared at the sun," I see that you try not to. Would it follow that you also don't love changing from nothing to one  ?

I'm glad you're here, and already you're no longer newer than the new. Well, at least not in joiners. Maybe in contributors, though. I'm not sure. My time here lately has been to come and go quickly.

Welcome, Anne. I like your last name, by the way. Is it Nordic?

Hi there,
New member, old fan. looking for ideas. I really like Recent Songs and
Songs Of LOve and Hate. Though having had New Skin for a New Ceremony and songs is great too.
I say don't stop till a get them all. I'm close and each one is a different friend. It's that simple.

Welcome to the Forum, Step.

I couldn't have said it better....."and each one is a different friend." Exactly.
