Who would play him in a biopic?
Who would play him in a biopic?
I've thought about this now and then, especially when I see the comparisons to Dustin Hoffman that come up online. I do agree that they look alike, as young men, in SOME pictures. But since they are almost the same age, who would play the younger LC? I am thinking Adam Goldberg. Wonderful actor, and watching him recently in the film "2 Days in Paris", it hit me that he could play young LC. If he shaved...and toned down the Woody Allen-esque qaulity he tends to project.
I've seen comparisons to Adam Sandler too...I'll admit there is a physical resemblance, including the crooked grin. Frankly I don't know if he has the acting chops to take on such a role. I'm thinking not. His voice is not right anyway. Back to Dustin Hoffman... is he the ideal choice to play older LC? I used to think so but I'm not so sure. Again there is a voice issue. DH has a VERY distinctive voice that screams "I'm Dustin Hoffman". This, combined with his age (and the fact that he is just so familiar to generations of movie goers) seems to have made him unable to disappear in a role. In recent roles he's always playing his curmudgeonly self.
It's always fun to think about casting. But would we want an LC biopic? It's certainly a fascinating life. The most recent part (Zen, lost life savings, world tour) being perhaps the most interesting of all! I'd rather see another great, comprehensive documentary made on LC...would rather watch the man himself!

How about Mark Ronson?

I have seen Mark Ronson in interview etc and, apart from the physical resemblance and being very musically talented, he has something about him that always reminds me of Leonard. He was born September 4, 1975!

Re: Who would play him in a biopic?
Totally agree on this. I saw Mark Ronson on TV at Glastonbury and thought how much he looked like a young Leonard, right down to the way he dressed (in fact, much more so than the picture, above).

Here's another pic of Ronson looking very Leonardish. It's quite amazing. I wonder if he (Ronson) realizes it. In googling him I saw he recently had a list of his 99 favorite musicians published in a music magazine. LC was not among them.

Well then I guess he would not deserve to be cast in that partmnkyface wrote: In googling him I saw he recently had a list of his 99 favorite musicians published in a music magazine. LC was not among them.

Another who's been mentioned over the years is Al Pacino.
Re: Who would play him in a biopic?
I think David Schwimmer would be quite a good choice.
Or Adam.

Re: Who would play him in a biopic?
I'm back on this thread because someone (nonLC fan) mentioned to me that this guy from Lost (I don't watch this show) reminds her of a younger LC. Henry Ian Cusick. I don't know...I kind of see it I guess. There are actually other pics where he looks more like LC (or Adam) but I picked this one to post because he is wearing a hummingbird shirt!

Re: Who would play him in a biopic?
I vote for Henry Ian Cusick, alias Desmond Hume. I think he's fabulous .( And he can act, too!) But I wouldn't want him to lose the accent. Can we have an Scotttish Leonard ? (reminds me of the play "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change!")
P.S. just googled him and found out his first big TV role was Jesus Christ. A decent apprenticeship for playing L.C. don't you think?

Re: Who would play him in a biopic?
Has anyone considered the fantastic Javier Bardem to play LC. In Love in the Time of Cholera, he played a man from the age of 20 to 70 or so and did a fantastic job. He was downright spooky in Goya's Ghosts. I think he won an Oscar for No Country for Old Men and deserved it.
