Ken & Mabeanie1,
Sorry for not replying sooner. Haven't been on this thread for some time. Did manage to get a ticket through Sochijava. Thanks though!

Re: Ottawa Meetup
Let's meet somewhere not too noisy so we can talk easily.
Re: Ottawa Meetup
Is the plan to meet afterwards or beforehand? We are having dinner with friends before the concert on the 25th, but would love to meet up with a group after the concert.
Darcy McGee's is quite a nice and large pub across the street from the NAC. There will no doubt be quiet areas in there on a Monday/Tuesday night, we could probably get our own 'room'.
Other ideas?

Re: Ottawa Meetup
My own thinking is that it would make sense to meet up after the concert, assuming the NAC allows the early entry for fans that other venues have. And for my money, D'Arcy McGee's makes perfect sense for locale.

Re: Ottawa Meetup
Darcy McGees does seem to be the best choice. I'll be driving up from Sault Ste Marie on the 24th to attend the concert on the 25th. Perhaps if we could get a commitment from enough people, someone in the Ottawa area could look into the idea of booking a room or what ever. I am committed to any post concert gathering that can be arranged.

Re: Ottawa Meetup
I will commit to reserving us a spot at Darcy McGee's on Sparks Street for after the concert(s). Anyone else planning on attending either of the concerts please let me know if you would like to join us at Darcy's after the concerts.
Bill's Bar - yes, it is an Irish pub - well, at least a pseudo-Canadian-Irish pub. Darcy McGee was one of the Irish-born Fathers of Canadian confederation. He was assassinated in April 1868 just a few metres from the pub's location (people don't get assassinated much in Canada, so it is still a bit of a big deal here in Ottawa). He was a rather interesting man all in all. If you're interested, here is a link about him:

I'll be at Darcy McGee's after the 25th concert with one other person. Arthur
Georgetown Pub Singalong
Count me in for D'Arcy's as well, Paula. That place can get pretty noisy, but on a Monday or Tuesday we should be alright.
Also, I will have a posse with me. Evelyn is coming up from New York, Laura from Houston, and Marilyn from Calgary. We're all heading down to Kingston together and will be having an open house at my cottage on Saturday. There's a forum thread on this Kingston "mini-event."
We're also planning a mini-event for Ottawa on Sunday night, May 24. We have booked the Georgetown Pub which is on Bank Street at Belmont. It's not downtown, but a five-minute cab ride from the NAC.
We're hoping to have dozens of people show up -- both from Ottawa and abroad. Vern is coming down from the Soo and is bringing his guitar. I'll have my guitar. We'll do a singalong, like we did in NYC, Berlin and Edmonton. Jeeze, you can't miss an opportunity to have an LC singalong with people who know all the words!
I'll add more details in this forum as the plans get finalized. But I hope everyone will plan to join us on Sunday night.

Re: Ottawa Meetup
I should be able to make Sunday night at the Georgetown as well, sounds like fun. I used to live on Belmont, so know the street (and all the previous pubs on that location) well. I'll be bringing at least two people with me, three if we find a sitter for the kids and I let my husband come.
I can't wait. I'm listening to LC virtually non stop these days. My four and a half year old daughter, listening to LC in the car a couple of weeks again, said: "he sounds like an old turtle. But beautiful, kind of like a prince." Not a bad description I thought.
Dream Warrior, I'm glad you'll be at Darcy's, I haven't forgotten that I owe you a beer!
best,
paula

Paula,
From the mouths of babes... beautiful.
Don't know if I can make Sunday night or not yet, but sure sounds like fun. Looking forward the the meet and (of course!) the show.
Don,
I know someone who is going to the Kingston performance, but don't know if she's on the Forum. I assume it's okay to direct her to the Kingston meet-up thread? She's a fan!
