Hallelujah! A brief intro

Hello everyone,

I just signed up for the forum today. I hope this an appropriate place for this sort of post. If not, I hope the moderators will move it.

I opened an email today with notice of the Las Vegas show. I got tickets for me and my long-time friend (soulfulnotes on here). We live in Salt Lake City. We both traveled to Denver for the canceled show. Try as we might, we were unable to stay for the re-scheduled show. We were very disappointed, bordering on despondent, especially since neither of us has had the privilege of seeing Leonard Cohen before.

One of the positive things that happened in Denver was meeting several incredibly nice forum members at our hotel in Colorado, though I don't remember any names. We stayed in the Best Western in Golden. Perhaps one of you will read this post, if so, please say hello. My friend is a high school teacher, I work at the local community college. One of the people I'd like to say hello and also "thank you" to is a very nice lady from Florida who spent a lot of time talking to and trying to cheer me up.

Hallelujah, the only word that seems appropriate. It is really going to happen! I can hardly wait until November arrives!

Was it the Best Western or was it the Holiday Inn where we were all gathered in the lobby, shellshocked, commiserating and trying to figure out what to do? A couple of teachers from SLC were in that front desk area and we had to break the devastating news to them - alas they could not stay. Was this you?

And...I seem to remember Lizzy talking for a very long time with 2 men from Utah just outside the Holiday Inn. That would be the lady from Florida! What a day that was....

See you guys in Las Vegas! Unfortunately though Lizzy won't be there.

Yes that was quite a day..exhausted after travelling, hoping for a nap and change of clothes and then the talks in the lobby, meeting with forum members...the lovely Kelsey, Mary B, Lady Di, Lizzy sweet Lizzy, going to the bar next door, meeting George and Greg and his lady friend...sorry I forget her name..and there were 2 guys at the hotel from New Mexico who didn't join us..then going for dinner and Roman joined us...waiting to see if anyone with a fedora hat showed up..just joking...and looking at all the photos on the wall which were right out of my family album..old photos from the early 1900's...although I missed Red Rocks and spent sooooo much to get there I met such nice people who I continue to talk with...
thanks for the reminder of THAT day at WET Rocks..the concert that never was!

And sadly Lizzy won't be at the concerts I am going to...or Kelsey or Gregg..but you never know as November is awhile away..but not soon enough.

Thanks for the replies. It was the Holiday Inn. And it was Lizzy who was so nice and helpful. In fact, all of the Cohen fans we met on that trip were so nice to meet. I'll write more when I'm not typing on my phone's tiny keyboard!

Yes, it sure was me who followed you outside into the parking lot and presented every thought I could think of for you to consider in changing your minds about staying. The graduation at John's school that was closing, though, that was pretty compelling ! I felt horrible for you and gave it my all to persuade you. I wasn't sure if you were convinced to really try, so it's gratifying to know you did ALL you could... and, now, as it turns out, what was meant to happen for you two really is going to! I wonder how many are going to try to pay for the cost of their trip, as long as they're already in Vegas .

I am SOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo happy for you two that you've been given another chance, the same as I am EVERY bit as much for Mutti and Kelsey [one huge smile and exclamation point for each of you]!!!! I hope the same good fortune comes to the others who couldn't possibly stay.

Thanks for your own, good wishes, Diana and Mutti ~ I'll be holding down the fort in Florida A dream come true in itself for me! I'm hoping philrose from the Member's Poetry section will be going to see Leonard in Ft. Lauderdale. I'd love to meet him. There are so few of us from Florida here, though... I hope some will start coming out of the palm woodwork. I KNOW all of you will have an INCREDIBLE time in Vegas! Dang... I wish I could be with you, but must content myself with being happy for you ~ that feels pretty doggone good, too ! You'll all have such an awesome time together in Vegas... now talk about some REPORTS !!!
