Once and only
Once and only
I have always admired Leonard's work but had never had the opportunity to see him live until wet and windy Weybrdge. I am now absolutely smitten by his talent and presence. However I fear I left this too late as the chance I will ever see him perform again live seems impossible for me - unless I suddenly win the Lottery! How I envy many of the people in this forum who have followed him for years and probably seen him perform many times - I am desolate I left it so late to become such a fan but am at least thankful for my once and only.

Re: Once and only
Hi Depe I can understand your desperation of not seeing Leonard perform live again but if it is any consolation to you that will probably be the case for most forum members now. Also do not forget that before this tour he had not performed live for fifteen years so apart from the wrinklies like us ( no offence to the board intended ) for most of his fans it would have been a "one and only " moment . As I have said in a previous posting the memory of Manchester will be with me forever . The biggest regret I have is that I did not go to see him when he was younger but I always say to me kids regret is a futile emotion because it changes nothing except your level of sadness

Too right. I could have seen him in Manchester in 1985, only I decided not to because I had a mock exam the morning after his concert.
Still can't believe how stupid I was!
At least I got to see him eventually, though, so all ended happily.

Re: Once and only
I, too, am among the "once" only in seeing LC live, just this past Spring (I don't want to add the "and", since I'm hoping there will be another tour some time in the future!). Although I've been a fan for 20 years (but I'm not a "wrinkly", yet!), I missed his '93 concert (right in my own city!) due to tickets selling out in minutes while I was at school (I was disconsolate about that for years! I still am, to be honest!). I would absolutely love to see him again on this current tour, but I simply do not have the money to do so, as it would require considerable travel from where I live.
I'm sure there are many people like us ("once onlies"), considering how many thousands have been fortunate to attend one of the concerts on this tour, and there really do seem to be just a handful of extremely lucky people who have the ability to attend several. I am exceptionally envious of them, but I am also incredibly happy to have been to one concert, to see my idol perform mere feet from where I sat. It was unforgettable, and I will always cherish it!
