Re: New venue in Tampa!
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the forum and I'm attending the Tampa show. I'm only 21 so I'm a bit of a younger Cohen fan than some, but I bought tickets for my father and I originally when the show was in the St. Pete Times Forum, then got notification that the venue had changed to the preferable Morsani Hall. Anyway, I noticed that a few people were talking about meeting up after the show. I'm definitely interested in this, so if there has been a decided location, let me know.

Is it just my crazy imagination or does anyone else perceive a beautifully apt quality in the shape of the Morsani seating plan...?

I like to vision Leonard and group and their perfect offering will complete the "unity" on 10/19...
For those interested in a post-concert meet-up, I previously suggested "The Fly Bar & Restauarant" which is located a couple of blocks away from Morsani Hall at 1202 N. Franklin St. (813-275-5000; http://flybarandrestaurant.com/tampa/). It is the only place I can think of within a short walking distance from Morsani that is open after 11 pm (closes at 3 am). The Fly has an open-air roof-top deck that is private and quiet. I have emailed The Fly to find out more about the availability and appropriateness of its deck, in case ya'll have interest in going there.
Countdown: 14 days from today!

There's another place a short walking distance from TBPAC that's open late, The Hub, 719 N Franklin:Brysburg wrote:...For those interested in a post-concert meet-up, I previously suggested "The Fly Bar & Restauarant" which is located a couple of blocks away from Morsani Hall at 1202 N. The Hub's more my kind of place, but I think Brysburg's suggestion of Fly fits better with an LC crowd. It's a school night so I doubt I'll be visiting either place after the show.
For those coming in early from out-of-town, you might consider the free Clearwater Jazz Holiday that wraps up Sunday the 18th with the Neville Brothers:

Headless, thanks for the tip on The Hub...I forgot about that interesting place and think its another good option for a late meet-up of Leonard's fans.
I'll post what I learn about the need for reservations for the roof-top deck at The Fly...I doubt they're required for a post 11 pm gathering, but what do I know... that's way past my bedtime on a work-night!

If The Hub is loud, I'm still deffo for your suggestion, The Fly, Brysburg. I have yelled enough, just trying to talk. The sooner we can decide on a place, the better. GLAD to have you along, Rschackleford

Hi Lizzy and all interested parties attending the Tampa concert. Since I am from Michigan and unfamiliar with the Tampa area I will leave the choice of where to meet up to those who know the area better. The rooftop at the Fly did sound nice especially if it is warm. Is it warm in Tampa that time of year? I do not like to be around smoke it bothers my breathing so again an open air environment would be nice . I will follow the forum from my sisters computer once I am in Florida so I will be up to date. Lizzy you and I are sitting close to one another at the concert so we can confirm the place of the meetup then if necessary. Looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing our concert afterglow....

Hi Tampa Concert-Goers:
I talked to David at The Fly (813-275-5000) about the open-air roof-top deck. The Fly (http://flybarandrestaurant.com/tampa/)is located at 1202 N. Franklin, about two blocks east and two blocks south from Morsani Hall. This is a comfortable walk and the route does not go through any "bad" areas. The deck can be reserved for private parties but is also available (and is available on 10/19) for open seating without reservations. On Mondays-Thursdays, unless reserved, there is not a bartender on the deck, but folks are free to get their beverages downstairs and bring them up to the deck. There is furniture on the deck for around 40 people and low lighting to create an intimate atmosphere. The music from downstairs is piped up to the deck area but it is relatively quiet up there. There are views of downtown Tampa buildings. On Mondays, The Fly features wine and offers specials. In terms of the weather outlook, unless a surprise "cool" front comes through, it is likely to be in the 70s at that time of the night, and we can only hope that it's not raining. The Fly is open until 3 am.

Thank you Brysburg,
The Fly rooftop sounds perfect.... Are you sure you cannot stop by . You certainly have earned a complimentary drink from me for all of the information you have provided....
Lizzy, what do you think? Sounds like it will meet all of our preferences...

It sounds great to me, too, Donalagata. I like the idea of quiet and isn't it likely that the place would be a smoke-outside-only one? Or, are they still smoking inside at those kinds of places? Even so, fresh air is fresh air... and it's higher up; I like that.

I'm in for the Fly. Can't wait. Would be helpful if we could exchange a few cell #'s so we can meet up.

Re: New venue in Tampa!
Hello everyone, Its Jennifer. I have been out of touch for a week or so with the craziness of motherhood. I got excellent seats at the TBPAC and I am so excited. They are much better than the reassigned seats at The Forum and are comparable with the original seats I had. In fact, they are so good I thought they might have charged me to upgrade my tix but they did not. I had another long round with ticketmaster and they claim to be mailing my tickets to me. That will be the last hurdle. Whew, what a process but we got the best possible outcome. Even better I was suppose to take my mother-in-law but she ended up buying excellent seats at TBPAC and now I can take my husband!! I got the babysitter all lined up too!!! I would love to say hello to some of you before the show and then maybe meet up after the concert. I am going to get there right before 8pm because I have 2 little ones to help to bed first then we will rush to the show. I will keep checking back for more updates. Lizzy, I would love to say hello to you and everyone else. Wow we did it. Jennifer
Re: New venue in Tampa!
okay, now for the last hurdle.....the tickets! Does anyone actually have their tickets in hand??
Tm said they would mail them 2 weeks ago, then the email said they would be mailed on the 8th. Stiill no tickets. TBPAC (Brian) tonight said they didn't know who had the tickets (but I wasn't to worry) and that he would get back to me.
So, anyone have theirs?

Re: New venue in Tampa!
Hi all,
I have my ticket in hand, but I ordered it from the TBPAC directly as soon as the change was made.
I am on a Leonard countdown - 1st in Ft. Lauderdale, then a drive across the state to Tampa.
For the Ft.Lauderdale show I am bringing a friend who has never heard of him, let alone heard his music. For Tampa I am going it alone. Looking forward to this so much!

Re: New venue in Tampa!
Re ticketmaster - They had sent me an alert 9/31 saying if I did not call and cancel by October 8th my re-assigned seats and tickets would be mailed to me automatically. Fortunately, I called them on October 11th and Ticketmaster Customer Service said they had not yet been mailed and I could either pickup at will call or at a retail outlet....it was too late to mail regular mail and special mail would be $14-19. I told her this was upsetting since the e-mail said the tickets would be mailed automatically and, in fact, I had called right after receiving it and accepted the reassigned seats to expedite the mailing process. She then offered to waive the $1.00 fee for pickup up at a retail outlet. I accepted this option and was able to go within 1/2 hour to a retail location so now I have my tix "in hand" which is more comfortable. I have never experienced such a fiasco with ticketmaster before. In any case, I am just ecstatic that I will get to experience Leonard Cohen live along with all his other fans and can hardly wait for next Monday evening in Tampa. There are a few restaurants within a few blocks of the performing arts center if anyone gets there early and does not mind walking a bit...Five Guys Burgers, Pizza, Thai Food, Spain.
