LOVE DOES MATTER!!! Question for Mr. Cohen

Hello to everyone! I haven't found a section where I could post my question, sorry for that.

Dear Mr. Cohen,
I appreciate Your time and attention to my question in advance and also I would like to apologize for my English. It's not perfect yet ) and I'm sorry for mistakes I make. I even don't know if You answer any questions, but I hope this information can reach You through this forum. If you'll never try - you'll never know )

My name is Tanya. I'm a young woman originally from Russia, currently living in Canada.
Your thoughts and understandings of what does Love "look like", how does it feel, It's meaning and what our Future will be are very close to my vision of these things: true, real treasures and earned by ourselves all punishments and rewards we deserve and lessons we need to learn to become Humans we are meant to be. THEY teach us how to love and how does it feel to be loved. If we receive a Gift by advance - it means that They believe in us, but also it means that we will pay for that gift later, when They will see what we will do with a Gift and how can we appreciate it, what our choice will be: to go up the ladder toward the Light, even though with our saddest lost, which has made us stronger, purer and better or to go down the ladder toward the Darkness. And even so, when I see what choices many people make in these days, I still have my hope for World to be saved by Love and I firmly believe that The Light is much stronger than anything else.

But I'm still wondering: Is it possible? Do They exchange The Gift? Can it be exactly the same? or it can be somehow different but doesn't make a Whole Picture (one or few pieces of "puzzle" can be missing) and with an exchanged Gift The Light will never be the same like it was with The original One? Won't it be just a "Sweetener" instead of "Sugar"? Isn't "Sugar" unique?
I'm still guessing: only Two of souls can be in One unique substance and belong only to each other and only Together they can gain The True (complete) Light?... Could one of them creating and rising the True Light be exchanged? or The Only One can formlessly entwine with another The Only One in ALL spectrum of The Light and no one else can be in there except for those Two... and The unique One-in-Two-Souls is (are) meant to keep that Light forever...

If it's possible, can You, please, share Your wisdom and an opinion about it?

I guess, Mr. Cohen had no time for answering or my question was not interesting enough, or I am not a "big person" for him to be responded to, or he had nothing to say...

How many times did they exchange the Gift for you Mr. Cohen?!

Did you have many "gifts" in your life? ... just thinking...
I'm just thinking ... May be you should too...? before you are saying about the exclusiveness and pricelessness of The Gift?

... and... I have something more important to say: I'm very glad that now I know: our visions (I'm not so sure anymore if you have one) of what does Love look like and how does it feel are very different...

I do not wonder anymore! I know for sure now: THEY DO NOT EXCHANGE THE GIFT!!! Or you keep it, or you loose it. This is IT! There are no more other options "to pick" from!!! They do not care if you still have a "receipt" and you feel so sorry for "money" you "waste"...)
That's why that Light-in-Two is unique, that's why only The true One-in-Two can gain the real Light together in ALL spectrum, like a rainbow with no spare space between colors. If it's fake, if it's "Sweetener" that would create only an illusion, just a reflection of the Light even if we want to believe very hard its existence! But this is a lie, reflection can not be true! The reflection is only a very poor copy of the real Light! This is only a mirror...
You can not replace it and with any other exchanged "gift", which you accept, you betray The original One, going down the ladder, in case if you are really given a Gift, not just a talent and wonderful lyrics about it, but the The true Love! Or if you never had it, what are you talking about then...?!

This is the first I've seen your thread. I like your avatar very much. Very cool .

I'm very touched by your questions to Leonard and, nearly a year later, your thoughts on your original questions and your questions to us. You're asking complex [or maybe very simple] questions with regard to how people come together in the deepest and most complete ways.

For now, Tanya, I want you to know that if Leonard does read this Forum, he doesn't participate here in any 'recognizable' form... some have conjectured that he has entered in here a time or two under an assumed name. But who's to know? If he has, I wouldn't be able to point you to his postings. What I want you to know, though, is that he has never openly responded to anyone's individual postings here... including those directed to him, as you did with yours. The only time he has responded has been when he has thanked all of us for our birthday greetings [coming up on September 21 of every year, Jarkko initiates a thread for that very purpose and anyone who is interested in giving greetings to Leonard, that they KNOW he will read, post them there. After a time and Leonard's reading them, he has sent a message to us all to Jarkko, which Jarkko then relays to us. He missed one year that I can recall, but no one minds that, as we know how busy he lives.

I explain all of this to you, so you'll know to not give even a thought to thinking that, perhaps, Leonard is ignoring you because he isn't. Leonard doesn't consider at all that you are not a "big person." If you were to ever meet him in person, you would understand how much he values you. It wouldn't matter which of us posted an open question to him. You would not see him responding to anyone here.

Yes, Tanya, love really does matter and I do remember how it feels [vaguely ]. It's been a very long time since I've been "in love," but I feel I have loved for many years. Yet, what you are saying regarding the generalities of how life has become in so many ways holds much truth. It reminds me of what I heard this very morning [which I can... unfortunately... really relate to] about Facebook. Twitter, and all those others and the state of our 'social' realities ~ "We are connected with everyone and close to no one." So, when we do find in another person that authenticity, someone with whom we really do form a 'third' entity, oh how important that is to our innermost, authentic selves. It sounds like you are in the midst of discovering and exploring some of the many and most relevant layers of life and doing the crucial questioning regarding your discoveries. My belief is that our heart is the most important part of our being.

Your English is beautiful, Tanya. I'm happy to know that Canada is where you live. You are a very loving gift to them . I have a friend who lives in St. Petersburg, Russia, whom I met online... on this Forum, in fact. Her full, first name is Tatiana and she, too, goes by "Tanya."

Have you been able to see Leonard perform Live, yet, Tanya. You would be so deeply moved by the love, the Love, and the LOVE that emanate from and flow through us from Leonard and the people on those stages... especially Leonard. I really hope that day will come for you.

My take/thoughts

Mr. Cohen is a man of flesh and blood/imperfect who has a great gift of thought and an ability to share his thoughts with fantastic understanding of words and ability to make use of them.
Personally I never thought of Mr. Cohen as being somebody who had the answers, but more somebody who was daring enough to explore the question … whatever that question is. There’s a bravery in his words as he shares the thoughts and emotions that are often beyond comprehension and are of the most primal and personal nature – god, sex, love, loneliness …

I don’t know if you’ve had much of a chance to look around Tanya but if you’re interested in interpretation and discussing what specific pieces mean to you there’s a whole section for that, right now there’s an interesting topic looking at the The poetry of "Ten New Songs" viewtopic.php?f=10&t=10339 - you might like it.

If You did not think that Mr. Cohen was wondering as me as well and probably had some answers, than I did! I did not say he knows everything, I just was wondering if he was thinking about it and if he could share his vision about Love. It's totally fine to have different opinions.

How brave Mr. Cohen is, I do know now too ) It's not a question for me anymore and there is no "king" without his "retinue".

Thank you for link you have shared with me, but I'm not interested in Mr. Cohen's work anymore. For me beautiful lyric is important, but I'm interested in MATTERS no less, and even more than just in a wonderful words about Love. His words do not have any sense for me anymore.

absolutely not arguing - just discussing, it's interesting to see how people view things, I don't think there can be a right or wrong it's to personal.

I think he's a lot closer to and certainly has a better understanding of possible answers then me and I think that he could be an excellent guide for many things including love but for me I find a lot of his work brings questions to my mind as opposed to answers, so I guess I just assume the writer is questioning to. Don't get me wrong, I bet he, the 75 year old he, has probably got a few answers tucked away under that fine hat of his ... more then most as most rarely even get to the question

I do not want to argue as well, it's not a reason of me being here )) My mission is different: I just feel like I must share with people with what I know now: or somebody will take this information as a "food for thoughts" or will "throw" it in a garbage can. I do not make anybody to listen, it's a free choice what to do about this information... Everything what I want is this world to be a little bit lighter and better place... and I know that Love - is the key to do so. Even to understand that LOVE DOES MATTER can help. By turning to your memories, by remembering how does it feel you will "sense" that Light; just to take a "first step" might change a lot...

I'm just telling, that I know what I'm talking about! and some things are absolute and their existence do not depend from anyone of us, it's not up to us: like Light and Darkness existing in Harmony... there is no Light without Darkness and there is no Darkness without Light; if I'll die tomorrow it will not destroy the Light or Darkness...but I'm able to destroy Darkness in me before I'll die... that is why I've got a Life, that's why I've got a chance, that's why They sent me The Gift, that is reason of me coming here! Only Love can destroy the Darkness, nothing else is pure and powerful enough...

... and I've "seen" what Mr. Cohen did with his Gift, and he knows that I know... In addition to, I'm sure that Mr. Cohen has tricks tucked away under that hat of his ... and he might try ) "to trick" me, but with all the tricks in the world putting together he will not be able to trick himself... he knows the Truth, he just does not want to see it..., as almost everybody, except for those who saw their real reflection, who came out of "mirrored" room, who was in that place...

I am sure you no doubt know what you mean but I have to admit I was lost almost from the beginning but then, that is not too rare these days.

I discovered, or rather found, LC many years ago, I have never seen him as any more than a great poet and writer. I originally was introduced really through Beautiful losers, in which I loved the writing style and the "wit" it showed. Although I had heard Songs of Leonard Cohen around the same time, I was at that time interested in his writing. As time passed his songs and poems took an equal hold, then Songs from a Room came around and then I guess, like with Dylan, these were the two who later along with N.Young and J.Taylor, were the songwriters I could not so much relate to but I think I really understood.

We had words, not just kiss me and, rock me this and rock me that and, yeah yeah yeah (I'm sure folks will know what I mean, well I do hope so ) and most of the people back then who have lasted, I have stayed with but I will admit, LC is the one that slightly tops Dylan and that is probably down to the last few years. Having seen Dylan several times when much younger, the concert last year was for me, a bit of a let down (I won't say anything more about him, as I won't talk a legend down, Bob Dylan has earned all he has been given) but Leonard Cohen has somehow in some way, surpassed, what a close to 76 year old should be able to do, week in and week out (barring the problem recently, I would suppose he would have just gone on touring, à la Bob Dylan) and for many of us, given us years more than we could ever have expected from him, not so long ago when LC was on Mt. Baldy .

All I really wanted to say was, after all these years, that I don't hold him up as a God, nor an idol but a superb artist, wonderful songwriter (nay brilliant), writer and human being, surely that is a huge amount more than most people in their lifetime will ever obtain or deserve.

Last time in Barcelona, both OH and I thought that would be it (discounting the Valencia episode just a couple of days before!! ) and it would be the last time, the lunch at with fellow fans at midday, the walk up Montjuic to the venue, would culminate in hearing LC "live" for the last time, now he is continuing, it doesn't get much better does it?

Leonard Cohen is a person that I have followed, almost for a lifetime and for all the others that have come along, some totally superb, none have topped the Master of his art. He is not an idol, or God to me, as I have said but a genuine person who appears very much to need people to like him, to know that his work is much appreciated and he can have no doubts by now, that he is more than liked (especially by the Ladies ) and hugely appreciated by us not only on here but many more Worldwide.

Now I wonder if Caen really will be the last time, somehow I am no longer sure any more..........

You had said it all. Everyone has to find their own way in life and not look to others for 'the answer'. Leonard Cohen has given so many of us so much pleasure and insight. He needs to do no more. He does not claim to be a prophet.

... THAT IS exactly why Mr. Cohen was given a responsibility for "JackPot"s, for priceless Gifts - Talent and Love. That is why They will ask from Mr. Cohen harder... not everybody was given a Gifts as Mr. Cohen got...and not everybody understands that they Do have a Gift but Mr. Cohen did...

... and yes, It was my huge mistake when I started to look for 'the answer' from somebody else, but not myself... Do not worry, please, )) I "paid" for this as well... It was included in that "bill" I've got. Everything, what I have ever done was included...
