Lizzy - The image on the new dvd cover is Picasso's 'Dove of Peace'. Permission was granted for it's use by Picasso's estate.
The original film poster is the red & blue poster in the last image posted by Jarkko. This will be folded inside the dvd packaging.
The smaller one, with the 2 lc heads with yellow border is the 1972 tour poster in postcard size, which will also be included.
Linda - thankyou. TP's blogspot is interesting. He had told me the true story of the making of the film (as there had been a lot of inaccurate info out there)- and the fact that the BBC had wanted to show his ORIGINAL film, but not the revised version.
BTW the bootleg version, with German subtitles, that has been circulating among collectors is the revised version.

This is very exciting! Arlene and Davido, what wonderful experiences with Mr. Palmer! Thank you for sharing them with us. I can hardly wait for this DVD to be released: seeing the layout with all the goodies has me ecstatic (and the setlist, wow, what a dream!). :D

Thanks for pointing me to the correct spot, Davido. I ought to have taken "above" literally.

What an honour to be granted that permission by Picasso's estate. Picasso would have loved Leonard's songs and poetry. Of that I am absolutely sure. Such a fitting cover for the new dvd. I can't wait to watch this in Cracow and go home with my own copy. I'm happy to know that your suggestion for inclusion of the miniature went beyond suggestion status.

I just posted Tony Palmer Q&A: The 38 Year Journey To Release His Leonard Cohen "Bird On A Wire" Documentary at http://1heckofaguy.com/2010/06/03/tony- ... cumentary/

Pertinent Points:
1. Yes, I had not planned to post on my blog during my ostensible vacation, but Mr Palmer’s Q&A seemed too timely to defer. Besides, Tony Palmer set an all time record by responding to my emailed questions within hours. One wishes to reinforce such cooperation.
2. If you read nothing else in this post, I urge you not to miss Question #8. It's easy to recognize; Tony Palmer's answer begins, "Jarkko has been a tower of strength."
3. The beach beckons. See you in a few days.

No, Dan, it isn't on the 'Bird on a wire' film.
'Please Don't Pass Me By' was sung just a few times during the 1970 tour.

Very interested in what you have to say Dave.

A general question to anyone out there; will the songs performed be complete or clips?

I saw the film in the seventies, it is amazing or at least my memory tells me so.
Can't wait for the issue.
