hey, don't beat yourself up.... the rationale for any tour is a mix of what venues are available when, logistics, and finances.... any decision to leave out the UK will be based purely on these... I think Mr C is guaranteed adoring audiences anywhere in the world, and isn't making decisions on any notion of who is the most "deserving" (or even "imploring"!) - it would be most unusual if he had that much involvement in the planning, apart from being asked to approve once an itinerary had been largely mapped out...

Lightasabreeze.... Leonard is popular everywhere... and the people who put tours together work purely on finances & logistics... not how many hits they see on the forum... sorry, but that's just how it is...

There may be nobody on this forum calling for Leonard concerts in Phnom Penh because they don't speak English, Wendy. Maybe they have their own fan forum, Jarkko - are you aware? If the show goes ahead it will be interesting to know the venue capacity and how many tickets are sold.

I understand that Lissadell is a relatively small venue, 9,600 seated (??) perhaps, so a sell-out would be achieved more easily than, say, the O2 Arena in London (around 15,000). The same applies to the Dublin venue for the shows last year, more nights were put on to accommodate demand because the venue was on the small side. Shoot me down in flames if I am talking rubbish here! I have been trying to find out the seated capacity of some other concert venues in UK but I have a low boredom threshold and leave it to those who don't have a pressing appointment with the Grand Prix second practice session in half an hour (Canadian GP in Montreal, lovely views across the river).
If Leonard decides he would like to pay a quiet visit to Yeats's grave, he might find it a bit of a squash if the 19,200 concertgoers also go along!
As Leonard (and/or his tour management) have decided it is not to be the UK this time round, I just want to say we love you and want you here so please bear us in mind for the future.

Sorry, lightasabreeze, I had it in mind to mention that I agree with you as well as Wendy (and got muddled) that I didn't think money had that much to do with it at this stage with Leonard - I think he has plenty now - but that the tour management would want to maximise incoming revenue, they need their cut too (business is business!) and the band have to eat. Leonard is a born troupadour, he loves to perform to his adoring fans it is obvious, so different now to that time he did his first public show and ended up in tears of fear.

In 2008 there were 5 concerts in manchester alone ( all sold out very quickly), and in 2009 one in liverpool .So my part of the uk has been blessed. I'm sure a few uk shows in 2010would have been amply feasible both financially and logistically , but we shouldn't be greedy . We are very close to venues in other countries on the summer 10 tour and i for one will be going to a couple of them !
