Darn, as a atheistic Leonard-fan I guess I'll miss out on this. Will the DVD be made available to non-believers?A religious experience is coming!

It's hard to imagine life without knowing Leonard is touring somewhere...

This reminded me of an unforgettable and amusing quote, overheard after one of the concerts last year:
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=14331&p=164269#p164269I'm an atheist who just had a deeply spiritual experience

I can only hope Mr. Leonard Cohen will one day come to play in South America.

The religious experience I was referring to was the mesmerising impact on all of us of an LC concert.....ecstatic crowds joining together (even with green lights in San Jose) swaying, singing along, clapping, hooting, yelling, and even yelling out requests. I smile thinking about LC's response to a Cohenite, at the concert in Toronto, who yelled out "Marry me", to which Leonard replied "You don't know what you would be getting yourself into!"
It is like a regular revival meeting,, where "PRAISE THE LORD, AMEN" becomes "WE LOVE YOU. LEONARD"
And there is Jikan, the monk that doesn't pray to a deity. The iconic fire to the religious wood of Joan of Arc, fully touching our spirit and our core.
And we leave, feeling so much more whole and cleansed emotionally.
Hallejah!!!!!

Meh. Why apologize or obfuscate? Any atheist who asks me to distance LC from God and faith---I ask back "You have listened to his lyrics, right?"
A religious experience? You betcha. And in more ways than one.

"And there is Jikan, the monk that doesn't pray to a deity:"
Zen does not have a deity. Therefore, no Zen monk prays to a deity.

OH please please please!!!!! Come to Scotland, even Ireland or England. I've been working my ass off to save up to go to a European one and housing issues are saying NO!
((( Though if all the European ones are announced, looks like I'll be missing out!

Grasping at straws now. Yes, the UK could be the Island. Oasis? Well the pop group OASIS come from Manchester. So maybe Manchester?Mabeanie1 wrote:I don't think anyone in their right mind could call the UK a "desert oasis". How did you miss out on Ireland? Two fabulous concerts at Lissadell House in Sligo on July 31st and August 1st! Just a month ago! And over the past 2 years Leonard has played NUMEROUS times in England, Ireland, and Scotland! Unfortunately, the next 6 weeks in Europe may be all that is left for this part of the world, so perhaps try to scrape something together...find the closest concert to you and either a cheap flight or boat to the continent...and enjoy. You will be creating a memory you will have forever!
Many of us have to work through financial issues, but Leonard is worth it, at least for one concert!
Good luck, and welcome to the Forum!
All the best,
Diana

The island refers to Ireland - Leonard just cannot get enough of us especially after Lissadell. He has decided to keep to the west and will now play in the grounds of Westport House!! Don't panic - i have rooms in my house and a field when you can pitch your tents to your heart content!! So relax everyone and book your flight tickets to ireland - quick now before airlines cop on and raise the prices.

Oh Yon, if this were true, I'd be there in a flash! There is nothing like Ireland...and nothing like the Irish fans!!! But I fear this won't happen this time. Would be nice if it was next year though...perhaps in the autumn, when the leaves are changing! We can only hope!

I know, I know and appreciate that Leonard Cohen deserves a good long rest when his phenomenal world tour finishes, and the fact that he’s going to record new work next year is terrific news.
But do you think that a message could be passed to him to see if he would consider even a one-off personal appearance in 2011? How wonderful would it be if we could hear him talk about his life and work, say at an event in the Hay Festival www.hayfestival.com held in “the staggering beauty of the Brecon Beacons” in Wales each May / June in the town of books.
Perhaps his artwork could be exhibited in a venue of the Hay fringe philosophy festival called…….. ‘HowTheLightGetsIn’ www.howthelightgetsin.org/.
Perhaps I should even ask the festival organisers if they are interested….
Past Hay festivals have welcomed the likes of Arthur Miller, Paul McCartney and Bill Clinton who described it the ‘Woodstock of the Mind’. The festival’s website says they feature: “Writers, comedians and musicians who have the capacity to change our lives, to share new visions of the world, and to do that incredibly sexy thing – to renew our sense of wonder.”
Sounds just like Leonard’s cup of tea (and oranges).

Aria, that would be great but it's not realistic to expect it to happen.
