Leonard Cohen fans can sing Hallelujah once more.
The 76-year-old's critically acclaimed comeback tour will return to Victoria later this month, the Times Colonist has learned, with a concert at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre on Nov. 30.
The date will mark the first of two dates in Canada this year. Cohen is also scheduled to perform Dec. 2 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
Cohen's longtime musical director, bassist Roscoe Beck, said in an exclusive interview with the Times Colonist that the current Cohen tour hasn't lost a step in terms of energy.
Fans who saw the performer's triumphant return to Victoria in 2009 can expect more of the same next month, Beck said this afternoon from a tour stop in New Zealand.
"He cares deeply about the audience and [is] giving them everything he has to give. I've got some longevity with Leonard, and I've never seen the kind of response we're getting."
There will be some changes to the set-list, Beck said. Cohen has completed four songs for his new record, three of which — The Darkness, Feels So Good, Born in Chains — will be performed at his Canadian concerts.
The current leg of his tour will wrap with two performances on Dec. 10 and 11 in Las Vegas. After that, the status of Cohen as a live performer is up in the air, Beck said.e
"I really have to look at [Dec. 11] as the last show, simply because there's nothing else on the calendar beyond that. We're talking about making a new record and Leonard is talking about touring again once the new record is out. God willing, that's what we'll all do. But I kind of look at what's on my calendar, and what's on my calendar is the tour is ending Dec. 11. We'll see what happens after that."
Tickets for Cohen's Victoria concert go on sale Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. They are available in person at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre box office (1925 Blanshard St.), by phone at 250-220-7777, or online at http://www.selectyourtickets.com. Prices have not yet been announced.

Well, nowadays nothing can be kept secret until the official announcements ...
And read the whole paragraph about the future, not just the sentence in red. There are no plans for another tour for the time being.

I know you are right, Jarkko, but I can't help feeling immensely happy. I'm wearing that dreamy look and silly grinjarkko wrote:Well, nowadays nothing can be kept secret until the official announcements ...
