btw...we have no snow in Michigan yet but my flight to San Francisco was first delayed 2 hours...then 4 hours...all other connections are full. So here I sit feeling like I should be working!! Maybe I need a couple of those little prayers

Why was your flight delayed? Fog,Rain ,Ice ...perhaps body scan rebels LOL. Perhaps I should wear a bikini (polka dot of course) when I leave next Wednesday The scan will be easy and my attire may prevent a pat down LOL. Send me an e-mail when you have reached your destination...
You saw/read about the woman in a wheelchair who appeared at airport security clad only in her bra and panties, right? Apparently, her doing that was quicker and easier and preferable to being subjected to the humiliation of having to negotiate being reached around and under, as she may have also had to get up out of her chair. After clearing security, she put back on a top and slacks. This happened both going and returning. I just can't believe it has catapulted to this point. What did I miss that brought it to THIS level!?!

Hope your flight goes off without any hitches once you're really ready to board. No idea what will happen with the weather in the Vegas area between now and this coming Thursday, when I will be politely declined the full body scan. Don't like the long-term possibilities with those. Pick your poison.

I just arrived at my hotel in SF. My flight boarded on time but then sat on the tarmac for 3 hours. First of all, the extreme cold(!) was making one of the instruments malfunction and we couldn't take off with a warning light on (or whatever), then we had to wait our turn to be de-iced again, then we had to wait for another take off slot. I forgot how much I love Heathrow, reputedly the busiest airport in the world .....
I'm sorry to hear that your journey has been so disrupted Diana. Still, it will be worth it when you do finally make it.
When I got to my room there was a little note from the front desk manager waiting for me: "Who needs a few extra days in Honolulu when you can have a few extra days in San Francisco" together with a plate of fruit and a complimentary bottle of wine. They are definitely looking after me.
Lizzy I understand and I can certainly appreciate your feelings in regard to the new security process. I suppose what comes to mind for me to the "Why" of all of this is the young man who had the explosive down his pants that was able to board a plane.
All kidding a side (my bikini comment) I am saddened that we have come to such measures of security but it is all for the best and safety of everyone. So I will walk through the new scanner and if necessary allow a pat down all in the name of safety even though it is a very invasive protocol and matter of privacy. As a professional myself ( I am a nurse) one can only hope that the individuals performing these tasks will also be "professional"and respectful to each individual .
Positive wishes,good karma and prayers will be the wings that carry us all to Las Vegas for this monumental gathering. Looking forward to seeing friends and meeting new friends.
