Hydra 2002
Dear, dear friends, -and we do not use those words lightly!-
You were great… All of you whom we got to meet while at Hydra. None of you had other than complementary words to say to us with regards to our Cohen-inspired project, offering feedback and support along the way. Leonard himself would be the first to acknowledge the value of your attitude to our project! After all, heartfelt, emotional and intellectual back up such as this can be the driving force that helps make the difference. And -believe you me- there are differences that need to be made here!
While time slowly but surely moves us further away from those sun filled days and sunset evenings at the little artistic Aegian paradise that is Hydra, it brings us ever closer to 2004.
And while that may still seem like an eternity away, it sure isn’t from our point of view! Having to not only write and finish a book, record and produce a CD, prepare and rehearse for a tour, but also to sell those three enterprises to publishers, record companies and theatres, we have work-a-plenty and hurdles to overcome by the busload ahead of us.
But, regardless, we feel more compelled than ever, thanks to your wonderful reactions!
If true and blue Cohenists respond this well, our chances go up quite a bit, at least in our hearts and minds. And so we forget the senseless ‘managers’ we have to put up with at times, erase all technicalities and/or other interferences from the back of our minds and move on.
We WILL make it, in time for a fall 2004 release of book, CD and tour, here in the low countries (Belgium and Holland), hopefully to be followed by more regions and places.
When the 2004 convention takes place (in New York? Late spring or early fall? – Jarkko ???)
We would just love to be there in full force (meaning: the complete show set up). Whether that is possible depends on things such as timing and finances, things we need to work out with the organising committee.
Meanwhile, we will try to keep all our Hydra friends informed on how things are evolving.
You can always check the ‘Cohen’ part of Marc’s site (http://www.Hendrickx-Books.com) through which emails can be send to us as well. Also, when there is really important news to report, Jarkko will be informed and can feature the info here, on the Leonard Cohen pages.
In any case, if you have a question or a tip for us, don’t hesitate… send that email!
