THE WEBB SISTERS - LONDON CONCERT

Post by asta »

According to Promoters AEG LIVE, Tickets went on sale today at 9.00 am for The Webb Sisters, live in London - at the famous UNION CHAPEL on Saturday November 19.
This is one of The Webb Sisters 'winter tour' dates across the UK and Ireland.

Apart from the LC connection I know absolutely nothing about them. Are they worth seeing in their own right? What kind of stuff do they do?

Here is the press release received from AEG:
The Webb Sisters
Return to London for an Exclusive Show

UNION CHAPEL, SATURDAY 19 NOVEMBER 2011

Following the success of their sell out CD launch concert earlier this year, The Webb Sisters will return to London for an exclusive show at Union Chapel on Saturday 19 November. Having won widespread acclaim on the Leonard Cohen world tour, the duo will give audiences another chance to catch their adventurous, lyrical and emotionally enthralling performances this winter. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 12 August through http://www.aeglive.co.uk

With two albums under their belt, The Webb Sisters have built a strong following in the UK and have achieved album and record of the week on iTunes and BBC Radio Two. Their singing and playing (harp, guitar, mandolin and more) draw from the folk and pop traditions of Britain and the United States.

Most recently, The Webb Sisters were honoured with the opportunity to tour and sing with one of their idols, the legendary Leonard Cohen. Their current album ‘Savages’, recorded with multi Grammy-winning producer Peter Asher, includes several songs written by the girls, plus their own version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘If It Be Your Will’.

Among their multitude of achievements The Webb Sisters represented the UK at America's 400th Anniversary celebrations, contributed songs to several major TV shows, recorded alongside the likes of Dolly Parton and Rufus Wainwright for a Judy Collins tribute album and have performed on major concert tours with artists such as Jamie Cullum, James Morrison and Jason Mraz.

The Webb Sisters
UNION CHAPEL
19 November

Editors Notes:

“There's a reason Leonard Cohen, for whom Charley and Hattie Webb sing backup, refers to them as "the sublime Webb Sisters." Instant converts cheered and whistled for their spine-tingling, deadly-precise harmonies.” Montreal Gazette
“The Webb Sisters provided choral richness and gave an exquisite rendition of one of Cohen's best tunes, "If It Be Your Will." (Usually it's a disappointment when backup singers do the star's material. Not in this case.).” Huffington Post

I noticed on www.thewebbsisters.com that a second date in Scotland, UK, has been announced - at a famous venue for great music. 'Backstage at the Green Hotel' Kinross, Scotland. (Just a little north of Edinburgh). The unique Union Chapel, in London, will experience The Webb Sisters beautiful harmonies on November 19 - beautiful acoustics in this place.
