Dougie MacLean, OBE

Post by Kush »

On July 5th Dougie MacLean received OBE from British Queen. His music and words have a timeless, ageless quality viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5503&p=63645&hilit. But it seems he always flies under the radar , or atleast I have never seen Brits, Scottish or Europeans mention him.
On another note should not these awards nomenclature be updated to reflect the times (what empire?). But it is obviously a great honor.

Dougie has his own festival each October/ November based in his native Tayside, Scotland. The festival now runs for 10 days and includes performances by Dougie and guest artists as well as workshops, walks, open mike sessions etc etc:

We have gone to the festival each year since its inauguration in (I think - time flies when you're having fun!) 2005.

Dougie will also be appearing at the 15th Celtic Colours festival in Cape Breton this (Canadian) thanksgiving:

Can't recommend this one enough. A great festival with wonderful music on a beautiful island.
