I have been contacted by the artist too and I think my comments must have come across as even more "flaming" than yours. I apologized to Mrs Mooney as well for using harsh words that hurt her feelings. Originally, I did not want to post an apology here as well, because it seemed as if the artist didn't want to restart the discussion publicly. Of course, I invited her to do so in this forum and also asked some questions as I would really be interested in her view on Cohen's lyrics and her own and why the decision to change the original was made. So, maybe we will get to know more about the process of this Hallelujah version one day...?
I do hope, kmooney, that you can forgive the harsh words and would like to apologize publicly too. I am sorry for being hurtful and would gladly join a fair discussion about your Hallelujah with you. Of course, like Rain, I stand by my opinion that the original lyrics were flawless and it sure is risky to change what is perfect to so many fans. When you put up the video of the performance on the internet, you sure knew some criticism might come up. Of course, that still does not excuse my choice of words. I did not want to embarrass or hurt you and I should have thought about the effect my posts might have on you. As for now, I will not remove my older posts yet, because then people will not understand why I need to apologize and what my opinion is. However, I will of course remove them if you wish. So please let me know. I don't want to make any more wrong decisions here.
