And they have used the postcard picture!!!

It is about time he was acknowledged as the Bard he is. Is Leonard hip? I do hope not

Sorry to tell you, Paula, you can't get any more hip than LC!

Great review. I am so looking forward to having the cd in my hands.

Excellent ~ another writing that heightens my anticipation :D . Thanks, Jarkko!

Hey, Paula ~ if they want to call him "hip," well, hey...............he or we could only object to a very limited degree 8) .

That's really something, ten stars in Uncut  I like the article, although I don't agree with interpretation of The Faith as love-longing song. It can be, and it is on one of levels, but I see it more like political statement.

On the imperiously jaunt title track, he fantasises about being so enthralled by a woman's face that he loses the ability to spell words out.
Pardon me, but I thought it was Heather's skinny white legs that were so engrossing. Did I miss something.

Also, I don't think Anjani Thomas is Heather....but I still say that's a drawing of her on the cover.

When did you say that the first time, Midnight? Did I miss something?

Well, Lizzytysh my speculation about Thomas was in one of the Dear Heather threads... I don't remember which one. If it is her...then I take back everything I said about the cover drawing...her voice makes up for everything.

By the way, you heard the song Dear Heather in NYC. Did you get the impression that LC was "losing the ability to spell out the words". Was that what was going on? What I mean is...did the reviewer (especially after the remark about the woman's face) actually listen to the song?

Hi Midnight ~

I must be forgiven, or at least given some latitude, for not being able to make the most credible comments on the songs after one, shocked  listening in New York City. It was an awful lot to try to take in all at once ~ the mere fact that you were even hearing it at all, in a virtually 'private' listening, much less that far in advance of its release; and then to try to take in the words themselves, as well as their meaning, all simultaneously :? .

However, when I read that comment here, I thought, "Hmmm.....now there's an interesting take on that. That seems a conceptual leap. However, I'll listen for it when I get the cd." It underscored for me how, no matter how hard Leonard may try to make his songs straightforward, simple, self-explanatory, there will always be different ways of viewing and taking them in. Did I get the impression, at the time, that Leonard was so 'overcome' by his thoughts of Heather that he had lost the ability to spell? No  .

However, you have now heard the song with, indeed, Anjani's voice? I wish you could direct me to your original comment. It seems I recall your [or someone!] thinking it was very simplistic; very 60s?

MIdnight is teasing (at least I presume she is!) "Pardon me, but I thought it was Heather's skinny white legs that were so engrossing. Did I miss something. "

"Legs" is a metaphor for "face" as any student of Beautiful Losers would know!

Lizzytysh...I located the Anjani Thomas speculation in the New York Event in our Memories Thread... One of the better threads due to your recaps. And I haven't heard the song yet. I thought about downloading but resisted.

PH, I didn't know that about the legs/face metaphor in BL...some things I'm just not up on.

Ah, thanks [for both  !], Midnight. I'll check it out and get up to speed. Yeah, after we've gone this long, why not wait till the 25th? I agree :D .
