Received notification of this in my personal email, and I've just come from your/Marie's/Patrice's/Sony's new The Essential Leonard Cohen site.....the most amazing collection of Leonard photographs and revealing words. Some I've seen elsewhere, but the majority I've not. Incredible photos. More insights into Leonard's writing and thinking process. It's a beautiful site and sight. Some insightful, non-computer drawings ~ Leonard-Lorca collaborations ~ and one a Leonard solo, with guess-what subject matter  .

Thanks to everyone for all your efforts. Extremely well done!

This site is way beyond "nice". I cannot recall the last time I saw a writer's stress markings above the text: one usually sees the final version, whether it's a poem or a song: drafts are confined to the bin, especially with the arrival of instant editing which can be done using computers . You can call me old-fashioned, but the only way to write is to put pen to paper, after a lot of thought, and then start the real work.
Leonard Cohen has not broken new ground in terms of writing, but, by releasing sketches,he has offered his insight into the process ;the graft of creative writing.
What price a first sketch of Keats' "Ode To Autumn" or Lorca's "Romancero Gitano"?
In the meantime, let's hold Leonard's bits of paper, the scorings out, the doodles, the mistakes, and all his honest hard work.
This material is important for writers; it isn't "nice".
Yours, Andrew.
