I'm new to this forum, so I wanted to say Hi!, and also fairly new to Mr. Cohen's music and writings (when compared with others here). My first encounter with his art was via Suzanne. I spent next hour and half listening to it over and over again...

Welcome Caetlin from one newcomer to another. I feel as though I'm getting to know some of the other forum members by reading some of the older threads. I'm new to the whole 'forum' experience and am finding it very interesting and informative.Caetlin wrote:I'm new to this forum, so I wanted to say Hi!, and also fairly new to Mr. Cohen's music and writings (when compared with others here). Welcome Caetlin: Hope you will be attending one of Leonard's upcoming concerts.

The same thing for me, plus I love reading other people's opinions on lyrics, especially when the lyrics are worth digging deep into (as since were on Leonard Cohen forum, yes they are).Nellynolan wrote: Welcome Caetlin from one newcomer to another. Hello and good evening to everyone!
I am reading this great forum for about one year now and have to say that I learned very much, so many profound 'Connaiseurs' of Mister Cohen's Work. My free-time-consume of media generally tended towards information about the Master since I had the luck to see Mr. Cohens mind-blowing appearence back in 2010 in Salzburg. I should note that I'm in my mid-20ies now and have discovered Cohen through my mother by his 'More best of' record at the age of around 16. I was listening to that record in that summer two to four hours every day as I lived in a small room that was my home during a summer job. Due to bad language-skills I did not understand very much although the booklet contains his lyrics. The beauty of the music, and Cohen's style of singing were enough to thrill me more than everything else I had heard before. Later in my teenage-life I discovered especially Bands like the Stones, the Doors, Led Zeppelin and listened to a lot of Austrian/German rap-music and techno-music. After I saw Cohen live that two years ago, I firstly googled for concert critics, possible videos and general information. I discovered those fantastic (live-)video-treasures on the platforms and am listening on a daily base again since that. I am fascinated even more and more, the magical thing for me is that I often thaught 'wow, It really can't get any better' and then several days later discovering the next 'thing', like - as an example - an early performance of Lover, Lover, Lover. I'am still discovering and I do think that thats a privilege, the privilege of the 'late adopter'.
Greetings from Salzburg and a thousand thanks for the new tour !!!

Hello Vanbonn and welcome. I too am a newcomer in the last 2 years, but I am well past my mid-20's!! I agree that although many times I have wondered how I could have missed his music for most of my life, I feel it is a great thing to be discovering it now. It is so exciting to discover all his old concerts and other material. Old for everyone else, but new for us.
A wonderful forum member sent me many many cd's of concerts and other performances for very little cost. I'm sure he would do the same for you if you like.

I am going to my first Leonard Cohen on Oct 31 in Austin. I am so excited! I am driving all my friends crazy because all I can do is talk about this concert tour. I've watched every video of the Ghent concerts and I'll be watching all the upcoming tour videos. Guess I'm a bit obsessive compulsive. Oh, I am 67 and all of Leonard's past concerts passed me by. Not this time.

That's wonderful, Grace. I'll be there, too, with Laura... she comes here, but not so frequently, but has gone to Events. Perhaps, at an Austin meet-up, we'll meet

Excellent, Lizzytysh. Hope to meet you in Austin.
Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)
Me, too, Grace. Follow the meetups section. I believe there's a thread regarding Austin there already. Just been too busy with other stuff to keep up at the moment

My name is Rob Watson. I'm a professional musician now and most thanks is to be given to Mr. Cohen. His works have inspired me and is what I always go back to . His genius seems unbounded. His lyricism and poetry have had a profound impact on my views of the world. I have taken it upon myself to introduce every friend I've met to his music and poetry. I am very happy to be a new member to this forum and hope to find out new things about him and to meet people who are likewise inspired by him.
