Nice song.

But a cow-boy must mount a horse as soon as he can after a horse fall.

Being more a horse wisperer, than a rodeo gal, I would add : they must learn how to create real bonds with the horse, and choose the good one.

Many than one mare are singing another song, boys.

Hi Tchocolatl,

Thought that you and other forum members would enjoy the song. The song has a beautiful simplicity
(a difficult thing to achieve) and a high level of artistry (most songwriters can't come close to it).

"Stand By Your Man" is a great song. Here's another one that's vintage, but up to date with regards to
many of the not uncommon throwaway relationships people enter into:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQq8XyBpsoM.
L.C.'s "Closing Time" "awful truth" may come into play with the consequences that people can experience.
People can comment if they like. I probably won't comment further. Limited time and interest.

You mentioned rodeo. Best rodeo song I know is "Rodeo" by Garth Brooks:

Steven you have such a quiet nice way to tell me that you don't want to engage into my babblings.

Well, what there is to say, anyway?

Some people say the world is divided in two : you have the farmers and you have the hunters.

I guess that people must learn to know who they are and how to choose a life partner. And how to avoid woolf in sheep clothings. 8)

Among the chimpanzees, mating and caring the babies are learned behaviors. Of course when a female is in heat the males are turning around, extremely interested, but they don't know what to do if when they were young, they never seen mature individuals mating. Same thing for the care of the babies. For chimps born In captivity, for example, the mother would let them die due to lack of references.

So imagine the human marital life and all its complexity !

Also people were dying around 35 years old at the beginning of this institution in History, and, they had no health care than prevention to... well, I stop the babbles. :D

For people who lived older, they did see a union between a man and a woman as political or social, the basic cell of the society, but monogamy was not necessarily the first virtue of a good marriage.

In a way or another.

I'm sure that loyalty, compassion and respect can be embodied in many forms. :)

(How many words were we, now?) 8)

Post scriptum

Thanks for the links. Your previous sharing of country music was so helpful to me, you know.

But I was coming back here to tell you that Leonard Cohen's song that fits the best is not "Closing Time" but "Did I Ever Love You".

At first one sure feel like Tom Wait's voice as described by critic Daniel Durchholz :

"like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car." And I add : rerun over by a truck driver listening some truck driving country, and some good one either, the g*d*mnit d* b*.

So it is like to recover from a sickness or an accident. But after, you feel like the little misses, all pert and renewed.

Suffice to say that it takes only time and appropriate cares to recover completely. Life is generous.

Take care! :)

P.S. 2 : On the other hand if this is just one major mistep in an ocean of usual felicity.... you know.

Hi Tchocolatl,

The lyrics as expressed by L.C.'s voice in "Did I Ever Love You" on the album, convey a person who has lost
his footing. He's stunned. Past and present are confused ("still" makes that clear). There's a state of shock.

Yes.

There is.

Absolutely.

I think this is why so many people disliked the song at the first listening. In a nutshell, they ressented the shock, the confusion, the roots being torned and cut. This is all the immense skills of this artist to be able to produce emotion that goes direct to the target before the intellect.

Thanks again Steven! :D

Hi Tchocolatl,

Can't speak for others, but for myself, I right away enjoyed L.C.'s voice, but was/am turned off by the
tempo changes on the track. L.C.'s voice, alone, conveys sufficient tumble shock.

Thanks.
