Tour 2016 (just a rumor)
Re: Tour 2016 (just a rumor)
I want so much a new tour, but i won't hold my breath. (After all, it is extremely bad for ones health).

Re: Tour 2016 (just a rumor)
The fact that he speaks of The Grand Tour seems to indicate that he will not tour again on that scale.
Re: Tour 2016 (just a rumor)
True, but a grand tour implies a small one.
Just giving myself hope.

Call it a hunch...
But we will see our friend again.

Re: Tour 2016 (just a rumor)
The thought of Leonard not touring again due to age is a hard one to grapple with.
I became a fan during his years at Mount Baldy, and really have been blessed to see him three times. I do not like to think of him in terms of his mortality. To lose the level of joy and exhiliration from his work, both recorded and live, when he seems to only be realizing how appreciated he is... hurts a bit.

I'll probably be the only one to say this, but I honestly hope Leonard does NOT tour again. The man is going to be 81 years old this September. We all know that he originally went back out on the road in 2008 out of necessity. If that rotten manager hadn't stolen his life savings we probably never would have experienced any more Leonard Cohen concerts. Alas, we all were blessed with his non-stop touring for several years!!! I just turned 40 this year. I got into Leonard Cohen in 1993/1994, just in time to MISS his touring those years. I lived with such regret for so long. I'll never be able to describe the feeling of going to my first Leonard Cohen concert in 2009. Then I saw him twice after that. I consider myself so fortunate to have seen this man perform. Of course, selfishly, I wish I could go see him perform once a month -- if I could. At 80 years old, he finally has a retirement fund that he can live off of... I don't know if his son has any children, but we know his daughter has a child. Let the man enjoy his 80's in a way he couldn't enjoy his 70's. Let him be a grandfather to his grand kids and a father to his children. Who knows just how many years he has left? And if he wants to pump out anymore CDs, I'll buy them the first day that they're available. Of course, all this is moot if Leonard sincerely WANTS to travel the globe again. Then I'll be singing right along with him in concert!

Waterbury, CT - May 14, 2009
Las Vegas, NV - Dec 11, 2010 (Final Show of Leonard's 3 year World Tour) INCREDIBLE!
Boston, MA - Dec 15, 2012 (Best L.C. concert I've been to!)

Totally agree- well said. I hope Leonard has many more years to enjoy life and his family. Thank you LC for all the wonderful songs and performances. I have loved them and been fortunate to see him several times and enjoyed each one immensely.alb123 wrote:I'll probably be the only one to say this, but I honestly hope Leonard does NOT tour again. Me too, Olwen. I thank Leonard.
He's been touring since 1934 and long into the Oneness shall he go.
Much peace,

Surely some mistake there ! He's been alive since 1934 but not touring since then !Boss wrote:Me too, Olwen. I thank Leonard.

I personally doubt that he'll tour again , though if he did would probably travel further to see him than i did in the ' grand tour'.
If it happened , it obviously wouldn't be for financial motives - indeed i'm sure he had accumulated enough for a ' retirement fund' by the end of 2008, and by now is very wealthy(though still lives relatively ' simply')
I hope he knows that there continues to be a big audience for him - which he doubted before the 2008 tour. He's made many statements about the sorts of things that attract him to a life on the road so if there were to be another tour we can be confident that he really wants it (whatever the complex motives), believes he can still reach the high standards he feels compelled to go for, and hasn't given in to the essentially ageist notion that just because he's 80/81 he's -just because of the number - 'past it'. There's every chance that at 81 he might be ' better than ever'.
Can't believe there isn't at least part of him that wants to explore performing some of the new songs live and with the magnificent UHTC.
I doubt in any case there would be very long tours , so compatible with the family life referred to above

Re: Tour 2016 (just a rumor)
If there is one thing I have learnt about Leonard over the years it's that Leonard does what Leonard wants to do. If he wants to go back on the road he will, as he did in 2012. If he doesn't, he won't. End of story.
For the record, I hope he does.

If Chuck Berry and Tony Bennet can do it, so can Leonard. I suspect he will tour again in some form. If not, we all wish him well and thank him for all he has given us over the past few years.
