G-d blessed your memory Mr Cohen
Re: Leonard Has Passed Away
Thank you Leonard. There are no words to express my gratitude. Your music and words have inspired me through the years. They have lifted me up, brought me over a dull working day and filled my evenings with pure enjoyment. My condolences to the Cohen family and to all his friends. My sorrow can only be a small fraction of what you are experiencing.
Let's keep Leonard's work alive and let future generations know about it too because just like his voice, Leonard, his poetry and his music is eternal.
In Finnish:
Kiitos Leonard, missä ikinä lienetkin, kaikesta mitä olen saanut kanssasi kokea. Olet antanut minulle niin paljon että sitä ei pysty sanoin kuvailemaan.

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away
So knowing and mourning are holding hands once again,
time having taken its inevitable toll.
Those he leaves behind are orphans now, all of us — and we inherit a rare treasure.
Let me bow to both truths, the awful one and the grateful one,
and let sadness do what it must.
My condolences to his family, and my loving respect to himself.
Farewell, Leonard Cohen.

So sad!
Who really wanted it that dark? I myself still long for love and light. Even it is so cruel and bright.
Rest in peace, Leonard.

My deepest most heartfelt condolences to the dear family members. Leonard's music and poetry have been with me for the last five decades and have influenced me profoundly. Words cannot describe this loss, just feeling devastated. Thank you for so very much.
Re: Leonard Has Passed Away
My morning newspaper, The Adelaide Advertiser, has a 2 page spread on Leonard's death, with the heading "A musical poet without peer doffs his hat to the world one last time". Written by Kathy McCabe, it is based on her posting in the Herald Sun http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainme ... 1478905258
It has a bit of local bias, including comments from Australian promoter Michael Gudinski, and singer Clare Bowditch who toured with him in 2010.
I particularly like her quote regarding God:
“We spoke about the time he spent up on Mt Baldy (at a Zen monastery) and how he decided to come back down and join the real world again.
“I asked him if he believed in God and I remember him saying ‘Believe in God? I know God!'”

Leonard,
Gratitude is not enough. Perhaps it's something beyond the realm of words that I'm longing to express to you. I'll start with: I love you.
Your friend, always.

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away
I was driving my car along yesterday singing with Leonard 's The Essential, which I do frequently; he is the only one where I really do listen to every word of his lyrics, and every so often I catch something not noticed before which brings a smile to my face or an inward recognition. I was hoping he would make it to Brisbane for one more concert.
Life was richer for the presence of Leonard Cohen, and his music will continue to make it so.
