"Release" means in what context, Jarkko? Are there varying forms of that definition? Should everyone here who has a cd of themselves singing Leonard songs be contacting Sony? I'm not being facetious or sarcastic, but serious. Doesn't 'for profit' vs. 'for free' somehow enter in? Or, is the premise ~ "You say it's for free, and it may be that today; but, tomorrow or next year ~ who knows?"

Thanks Jarkko for the explanation. The "mother" company that has done so much to promote Leonard's work!!!

 That was my take on it, too, Demetris. I should have included it in my posting, as I did think, "Figures :x ."

Lawyers in our little community may explain this better, but
I believe it goes like this: if anybody records copyrighted songs and wants to play them in public, a permission of the copyright owner is needed. Even if the songs are distributed free of charge.

Thanks, Jarkko ~ if that's the standard, then it wouldn't matter if it was Sony or some other record company. I recall someone from the Sony board wanting to record a Leonard song [an altered-lyrics one, to suit his own situation] and wrote to Kelley, as I recall. He ended up with permission, but perhaps Kelley contacted Sony? I wonder if it matters whether or not the songs are recorded, virtually, verbatim.

I remember a story in the papers some time back about a school concert which had to be changed because they included songs which they didn't realise they needed permission for, maybe these copyrights go a little to far sometimes.

Hello friends,

I have all of these songs in MP3 format.

I found them on Soundcloud
https://soundcloud.com/hanan-cohen-2

Managed to obtain them a while ago but I have since been in and out of hospital a few times and I cannot for the life of me recall where or how I obtained them.

I am willing to share these but not too sure how?

Let me know by replying or messaging.

Kind regards from Australia
