Well
I heard that her first album Martha Wainwright will be released in April, and according to the setlist, all 5 songs from that EP will be included...[/i]

Dylan, do you have recent issue of Word magazine with the review of Dear Heather? I got January issue with free CD (Because Of was there), but the review obviously was in some of previous issues.
Is anyone of you going on some of Martha's or Rufus shows these weeks?

I believe you are right!linda_lakeside wrote:I believe Linda SK not only managed a record store but has a relationship with a musician who has her listening to many old blues recordings. I wouldn't ordinarily offer up private info on a fellow board member, but she wrote it (somewhere in this forum) and it is therefore now a matter of public record.

Well, it wasn't the most fun at times (kids stealing rap and paperwork) but the general clientele and co-workers made the place amazing. I wish the store had a bit more rarer finds but I suppose you don't make money in a chain store by selling stuff the masses don't tend to swallow. I believe, LindaL, there is one of our stores in your community(I talk like I still work there...it's called CD Plus). And yes...I have a relationship with a musician, haha. The one, who once accidentally spilled a drink on Leonard Cohen, plays and has played a wide variety of music (rockabilly, surf, old blues, old country...) so he has truly introduced me to so much more out there.
I feel as though I have interrupted the original topic here with my late response!

I could give y'all a weblink so that you can hear the man (boyfriend) play some old blues, if you want...

Linda SK,
You bet. Where's the link? Always good to hear what people are into! Kids stole rap and paperwork?. Or you just had paper work to do? I think that would be it.
You didn't interupt anything. I wish you'd dropped by earlier as you probably could've added something to the conversation. It's true that
record stores don't have anything 'rare' or outside the mainstream. Makes things more difficult to find intereting things. Although, I do love browsing the used music/book stores. Lots of unusual stuff in those places.
See yous latah,
Linda.

We have a great one in Manchester called Vinyl Exchange. I have spent many rainy afternoons in there. http://www.vinylexchange.co.uk

Haha, you are right! The kids usually stole rap. The paperwork...I had to do tons of it. Oh, and a lot of drunks loved stealing Lord of the Rings DVDs for some reason, haha.linda_lakeside wrote:Linda SK,

Zak, my boyfriend, has some songs on a website called soundclick.com. Feel free to listen to. He is very passionate about country blues. The website has a chart and I think his cover of "Death Letter Blues" is at number 7 today. Be warned though, there are a lot of questionable (or crap) on the website in general (not Zak's).

Enjoy!

Hi Linda SK:
I'm writing this before listening to the clip, otherwise I'll have to wait for my old, old computer to do its thing and I'll lose my train of thought.
The drunks are into Lord of the Rings DVDs? If this were the case, and I were the detective, I would say that they like this set as it is probably easy to sell and costs a few bucks. Other than that, why would they be interested in Lord of the Rings? Who knows? Why not?
So thankin' ya for the link and we'll see you later.
Linda (I wish I could say the seashore one)

I downloaded Martha Wainwright's MP3s from her message board yesterday. She is soooo......
Now, she played Henning's guitar on Hydra? I hope she will be on some of next events...
