Dylan Touring

Post by valhoun »

I have seen Dylan about 8 times in the last few years. His voice is shot and his body thin. His vocal chords operate off of pure willpower and his arthritic fingers barely can pound an electric piano that is dialed down in the mix so as to be inaudible.

That being said, he is doing some of his most amazing work. His concerts are unbelievable. His band is absolutely amazing. So, for those of you who think that Cohen won't sound good or be worth seeing... well, he will be. I'm sure it will be a different kind of show and the songs will be reworked. But it will still be amazing. Dylan is a few years younger but his voice is much worse and his body is more beat up. Cohen will do fine.

Poor man's Cohen, my ass! I saw Dylan in Vegas and the tickets weren't cheap. (I managed to find two on ebay for $50. That was very cheap compared to what most people paid.) If you add in the cost of a Friday night in Vegas, and the etc. for gambling...the cost may have really been up there for some folks.
It was my first Dylan live. Hard to believe since I've been a fan since the 60's. I'll just say it wasn't what I imagined. I should have researched more info on what to expect but I am glad I went. But, you're right, voice is shot to hell.
So...I will not imagine what a Cohen concert will bring but I wouldn't miss it for the world. I haven't seen Cohen live either and have been a fan of his since 60's too.
I will see Cohen even if I have to pay full price. Yep, doubt I'll find front row seats on ebay but it won't keep me from looking! (Wonder what the tickets will sell for though?) Guess we'll know alot more once a tour is actually booked. Can't wait!

Dar,

I mean't in quality of performance. The most expensive item on the shelf is not always the best one. Remember Betamax v VHS
