Rob.

I'm the kind of guy who will never settle down

The Wanderer!! Of course. Runaway - Del Shannon. Yes. Both great tunes/artists. Just slightly before my time, but close enough that I remember the songs (well, not every word). Both, though, to this tin ear, sound similar in a way. Maybe it was the type of music they were doing at the time that was similar. Great summer-time tunes/artists, for sure. If they're both alive anyway. Still, their music lives on. Ain't that so?

Oh. Breaking news! Explosions in the London underground again! It's 6AM, PDT.

Linda.

Addendum: Thank G-d, there doesn't appear to be any casualties and emergency services are not treating this as a 'serious' matter. I don't know what that means?! Nonetheless, I'm sure it's 'tense'.

To answer your post, T, yes, I know you meant 'log', but when I first read it, it made me smile as it looked odd.

Regards,
Linda.

Hi there T-

Yes, Dionne Warwick has been doing all that 'phychic mumbo-jumbo' for quite sometime now. But is it that, or is it the music she did. Oh! How about he fact that she supported OJ Simpson thru the whole trial????

Brigette Nielsen??? I haven't seen her since the Stallone days. What's she doing (besides psychic mumbo-jumbo)? Does she still look great? No? I need some gossip!!!

Sorry about the 'log' in dooey. My goofy sense of humour.

See ya.

well, brigitte's a nutcase and a half. she used to look pretty good, in spite of how amazonian she was. but if you've ever seen that tv show on vh1 you'd know what i'm talking about. i forget what it's called but it's like a big brother type thing but with celebrities, and no one gets voted off. they just live together for like a month or something. hahaha.

i think dionne warwick wrote some very good songs, but... well, she's just a weirdo.

Hi Linda Sk:,

Hope your summer has been going well. David Allan Coe? I've loved him for a long time. Lot's of people think he's just for the 'old folk'. I think he's a laugh. And very talented.

Must be, as next to Motorhead, he's the only one on your lists that's familiar. I have to restock my CD collection before the snows come. Who knows? That could be in a mere 8 weeks! That would be pushing it, but it won't be long. Back to school stuff out already! Next it's Christmas. Yikes.

Thanks for your recommendations. Much appreciated.

"the great gnr". Now, I'm going to lie awake all night trying to figure out who gnr might be. I'll either not sleep, or the answer will present itself, and it will be so obvious, I'll yell Eureka!! - either way - please return to see if I've clicked to who they/he/she might be!! gnr..gnr..gnr..I'll get it.

GUNS AND ROSES!!!!

Judas Preist, Twisted Sister, et al, are they still 'active' as in making music? Or do they fall into the 'nostaligia' category now. Surely Iron Maiden, has cut its last CD???

Aw! That's so great to hear that you like David Allan Coe! It's another artist that my better half introduced me to...and yes, he can be a laugh. Especially his, ahem, dirtier songs. Do you have any favourite songs of his? His songwriting (esp, the dirty ones, haha) are pretty much the main inspiration for my boyfriend's band! They even do a cover of one of his songs.

If you like the old style country, you might like Dale Watson. He's a newer guy but sounds very traditional. He has some really sweet, sad ol' songs.

I'm not sure if my choices this summer are good suggestions, haha...it's just what's been playing in our house lately! The Dickies are a lot of fun - an old punk band...but their songs are simply funny and humourous. They did the song for Banana Splits - I think that was a cartoon back in the day?

And I agree, WASP wasn't that great. It's just on the comp...and so is Twisted Sister! *insert guitar solo here*

Have you seen David Allan Coe interviewed lately? Now, if you want to talk about a weirdo. I generally don't speak of people that way, but he really compels the term. Seems a disproportionate amount of anger to be carrying around at this point in his life, too. Sad.

Hi Linda Sk:

David Allan Coe. It sounds like your other half has turned you onto to some pretty diverse and very good music! I like You Never Even Call Me By My Name and then there's that great tune, the name of which I always get wrong, it starts out: I was drunk the day my ma got out of prison...Ha! It's quite funny, it's called something like "The Original Country Song" - words to that effect. I told you I always got the name wrong. I think some of these were written or co-written by Steve Goodman. Willie, Waylon and Me is another. John Prine also fits into this category (do you know the song 'Sam Stone'?), the refrain is "there's a hole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes". It's about a Vietnam vet coming back with a drug habit. Goodman is dead now, but these guys are such a nice break from the 'typical' country stars of today - the Toby Keiths of the world.

Oh, I see Lizzy posted while I was typing. I've never heard him in interview, but it doesn't surprise me that he would be 'off the wall'. Still, a very good performer/songwriter.

Twisted Sister...can you believe I almost got my hair permed like that guy? I had very long hair...but chose to cut it off instead (thank goodness).
Thanks for the suggestions, the Banana Splits ring no bells whatsoever. But there's a lot of fun in your list.

See you,
Linda.

Lizzy,

Were you able to get any idea what he's angry about? I'm pretty sure he had a tangle with drugs or alcohol. He has also played for the bikers with some regularity, which is generally not a good road to travel. I imagine there is much in his life that could have 'derailed' him. The music business does tend to 'eat some people alive' while others deal with it like any other business. Steve Earle is another who has had a hard time of it. Balancing success and drugs is pretty tricky.
