Ali,

< *clears throat* >

Now you are getting mixed up with what we have been discussing in PMs and what is on here, in public.

I despair.

But Diane, it was such a wonderful idea to add to the Meet-Up agenda

Serious Post Guys and Galls

The Venue for the Bristol Meet-Up has been Booked and Paid for Today

The Venue is

The Ship Inn
1, Cathay
Redcliffe
Bristol

This quaint little pub is right behind Historic St Mary Redcliffe Church and a 5 minute walk from Temple Mead Station - It is also on the route of the 75 Bus from the centre if anyone is coming by coach.

The Skittle Alley Bar is booked from 5pm onwards - we have permission for the entertainment and to bring our own Buffet. (they also serve hot food until 8pm)

On request, they are making sure they have enough Tequila and Cranberry juice to sink a battalion

Anyone needing more info........PM me :)

* For any followers of my disgusting habit............. Smoking is allowed :!:

There is a Ramada Plaza Holiday Inn for those who will not be kipping on my floor in sleeping bags and/or spare bedrooms  This is right opposite the venue. I will get a price list and contact details for anyone who is interested :)

Hi Ali,

Thanks for the work you have done so far and for organising the venue. It sounds like a lovely choice 8) .

You're a absolute star, babe :D !!!

Pity about having to breathe all that smoke in all night (look at your sig quote, privilege to breathe?) .

As I am helping you with the food, we will throw a couple of extra-large packets of rennies into the supermarket trolley too.

It's gonna be FUN.

Thanks for the PM explanation [with anecdote], Ali  ~ I thought we must still be on-topic with cigarettes and smoking. Perhaps, some Certs and Rennies, then? It'll be a Battle of the Chemicals for you, folks, by the time the night is out  .

Liz. I think by the end of the evening we will be giving out valium as a prize :!:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To raise money for the Buffet, we could borrow an idea from a famous site -

Youv'e heard of EBay :?:

Well welcome to

LCBay (the object is to bring an unwanted gift / small present and we can auction it ..................... Any money raised over and above the cost of the Buffet being prepared by myself, the Lovely Diane and the Lovely Cia........... can be donated to a Charity.......... Mind the Mental Health Charity is a good one.................. Any feedback would be welcome on this)

:D  :)

If every guest brought an unwanted gift to auction might it not take some considerable time out of our evening :?:

I would be happy to contribute to the cost of buffet and room hire if this would be simpler. I keep accumulating various unwanted gifts but I wouldn't like to pressure anyone else to bid for what I don't want myself

I hope to arrive early enough to help with all the preparations :)

Ali, I hope we can wait until the end of the evening before donating Cia to charity :( .

Margaret, nice to see you! What about bringing along things for a raffle. That may take a lot less time, and if anybody gets something they don't want, they can simply swap with somone else.

To save time Margaret, I thought instead of having a full acution we could just pop a peice of paper under the item with a bid  then about 9pm we could just hand out to the highest bidder.
All offers of help gratefull accepted by Myself and the fair Diane.......

Tanglewood, welcome :D . You live in such a beautiful place 8) . How long have you been a Leonard Cohen fan?

We would love to meet you. As Ali says, please do ask if you need any more info.
