The Ongoing Leonard Cohen Tribute

After a wonderful night at Gyngen june 21, where people sat in total silence on the floor, (there were no more chairs) as we sang the burning songs of L.C, we continue to bring the good news - that song is still a way of prayer - to all mankind.

At KOMMA vestergade 50, 8000 Aarhus C, Brothers of Mercy will once more pay tribute to the Leonard Cohen Tower of Song.

July 5. 8.00.

Tonight I realised that we don't pay tribute to leonard. We play his songs because they make us glow. We play them because the melodies and the words make the two sexes unite. We play them to kiss, and to touch and to dance. I wont claim to pay tribute to Cohen ever again. His work has changed my life by letting me dance with the women I never thought I could reach. And they will continue to do so. That is the tribute.

True enough. But, we also play them, to listen to in the dark. Alone with 'his' thoughts. Can't beat that.

well Linda, I must say I prefer unity in the dark, or just as much in the light. I know the thought experience and it got me from the desert to the well, but as I drank she made me sing.

Yes, no doubt. Unity in the dark (or light) is a wonderful thing. But with Leonard in the background, one is never really 'alone'. He evokes all the images of loves and hurts, past and present. Perhaps, I've just not reached the well, yet.

Yes L.Cohen helped me through so many horrors, alone and desperate in the night. I got to the well and I started to drink. Then desire made fall into the well, and I almost drowned. Then somebody rang the bell that still could ring, and I discovered a stairway back to the light. As I felt the breeze I knew her again, and we went to the far corner of the garden. Tonight I will wash her hair and treat her with wine song and bread.

Spiller I ikke i København på et tidspunkt. Kunne virkelig godt tænke mig at høre jer. Især den desperate version af Leaving Green Sleaves som sidste nr.
Var til koncert med det danske cohen-ensemble Birds on the Wire. Det var ok. kender du dem?

ja vi kommer snart til københavn. jeg arbejder på koncerter der. Bird on the wire kender jeg kun af navn, jeg har ikke hørt dem.
