Chelsea Hotel Plaque

My daughter Clare visited The Chelsea Hotel in June 2007 whilst on a holiday to the USA and Canada (from Australia) specifically to be at the place where Leonard stayed. Ironically, my wife Janis & I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Leonard in a hotel in Sydney in January this year (see photo under The Pacific Tour). It will be our great pleasure to donate to the project and hopefully we will get a chance to see the plaque when we visit NY sometime in the future.

STATUS OF PLAQUE PROJECT:

With another booster donation – from Stu in Scotland – I have adequate funds to proceed with the order. Many thanks to all so far! As of this morning (July 17), 122 listings are in my file. (Some are individuals, others couples.)

I still encourage further participation, however, for these reasons:

1- I think we all want to be a part of this project and no one should be left out.

2- We still need some contingency funds for shipping and mounting costs which are not yet known.

3- We can use funding for mosaic production as well.

4- Any extra cash will be well-utilized by making a donation to a charity of Leonard’s choice.

Frankly I'm jealous of the birthday events being planned by the crowd in Barcelona. I would like to think I am keeping my options open for that one....but its unfortunately only a dream

Linda made a good find with this YouTube clip. We should all get to possess it when the Isle of Wight dvd comes out in September. From his spoken intro, it sounds as if he had various rooms at the Chelsea Hotel.

Here it is. After much back and forth and patient "tweaking" the image by Marie and Jarkko, we are now in agreement that this photo shows what we intend to see when the plaque has been cast. I still need to make more arrangements and check out the supplier's background, then will place the order.

Remember -- it is not too late to make a contribution and have your name added to the list of fans who participated in this effort. Extra funds will get to charity that LC chooses.

Dick, it's beautiful. I love the line "Our Man." Thank you so much. Is it likely that it'll be up in time for Leonard's birthday?
