Many happy returns and lots of love. I'm celebrating my impending birthday with a trip to Lille this weekend......

Many years have passed since the first time I saw you in 1970, in Manchester. And what a journey it's been since!

So many people have sent such lovely greetings this year and it's hard to find something else original to say. So I can but repeat part of what I said last year (but I WILL repeat it, because it's heartfelt): "You are an extraordinary man: I do hope you truly know how much you have influenced so many with that special gift which you have so freely shared; how greatly you are loved; and how much we all wish you the most wonderful of birthdays."

Thanks for all the wondrous concerts, I'm looking forward seeing you in Katowice and Bratislava again. I can't help but hope there will be a New Album Launch Tour after next year. I can't bear the thought that we won't see you singing live on stage anymore.
