Kindest regards,

Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)
Hello. I'm happy that this forum exists as I've been looking for a forum where so many people 'get' Leonard Cohen. I've loved his music for years and when I manage to find I buy his CDs, vinyls and his books. It was Leonard Cohen's "Stranger Song" that inspired me to write. I'll be forever grateful to Leonard Cohen for all that he's given to this planet of sorrow & longing.
Peace.
Peace.

Hello everybody! I'm surprised to see this thread come up agian. It's nice! Sorry I haven't been posting. It's hard not to get caught up in life!
Anyway I wanted to say..my next phase of discovering Cohen has been, diving deeper into individual songs...right now, I'm obsessing over, The Stranger and Joan of Arc...trying to understand the meaning...it's funny how I can listen to a song, over and over and over and over...and cry and cry, and just love it...and what strikes me is how they pertain to my life, how they fit so perfectly. It's incredible!
MegaMilton, about a cheap ticket, you can always try showing up, day of the show, hanging out front, sometimes you can find a cheaper ticket or even someone out of the goodness of their heart could give one away! It reminds me of the Grateful Dead days when when people walked around with signs saying, "I need a miracle"...meaning a free ticket! Anyhow, everyone hates it when I compare The Grateful Dead to Cohen! I can't help it!
I love the Cohenites. Hope to meet everyone and catch up in Vegas and San Jose!
I miss coming to the forum!
Love you all!
Denise

Welcome to 40 years ago in my life, Denise... the finest surprize you'll be finding is how the songs grow with you... you never grow out of them. In one way or another, they'll always fit, you'll always relate. It's the universal chord he's found.Anyway I wanted to say..my next phase of discovering Cohen has been, diving deeper into individual songs...right now, I'm obsessing over, The Stranger and Joan of Arc...trying to understand the meaning...it's funny how I can listen to a song, over and over and over and over...and cry and cry, and just love it...and what strikes me is how they pertain to my life, how they fit so perfectly. Great to see you here

I first listened to the songs of Leonard Cohen in 1979, I was 16 years old. Now, thirty years later I am listening again to his songs and reading his poetry. And I saw Leonard last year in Frankfurt at the Festhalle. I was touched. Must be the right time for me now.Diana wrote:No matter when someone discovers the magic of Leonard it is awesome. And it opens up a whole world of beauty, magic and poetry. Not all of us have been devoted fans for 40 years, even though we may have always been aware of him. His music and poetry will touch you when the time is right, and it will forever find a place within your heart.

Hello, I've only recently discovered this forum and only more recently managed to get logged in properly with the help of the brilliant and efficient Jarkko ! I was lucky enough to get to Barcelona last Monday and was delighted to be made so welcome in the Sala Vivaldi. I enjoyed the company of Marianne while watching the Isle of Wight film, and It was great to meet people from so many countries all getting on so well. Then walking up through that beautiful area to Palau Jordi , led by the German navigators, was so enjoyable. And then the wonderful concert ! I am spending hours now reading accounts of it and watching all the videos so generously posted. Thanks to all.

Welcome to the forum TipperaryAnn! I'm glad Jarkko set you on the right path. Please clarify 'Marianne'. I'm sure it wasn't 'the' Marianne of song (even though she was at the concert and some lucky few were fortunate to meet the lovely lady) you were alluding to?
