Thanks, Tchocolatl

Excellent poem by Keith Barnes there. And complexity also is excellent :D

Anybody else want to explore these matters? The Bible can be fun, and its themes are also very much relevant to Leonard's work, as we all know.

Ah, and Jung, of course! Makera where are you..?

When Genesis refers to "...anyone.." (will kill Cain)
it is talking about any other children Adam and Eve
had and their descendants. Remember, people lived for
hundreds of years in those days and, while none are
mentioned, it generally agreed that Adam and Eve had
to have more children. Remember God said "Be
fruitful, multiply and replenish the Earth"(GEN 1:27).
The descendants of Adam and Eve married and had
children by their brothers, sisters and cousins.
Today we would call that incest. But the human race
was more pure then and God had not yet written the
incest law. It is not a Bible error.

I am a chirstian and I am considering becoming a pastor,
Apparently there was some incest in a missing book of the bible that adam and even had more kids who had childred with each other.
I believe us is a mistranslation of me. For example it was teh sea of reeds and not the red sea.
I loved you for your beauty that doesn't make a fool of me,
You were in it for your beauty too.

hey.im a christian too, and i think that the important thing to remember when reading the Bible is not to stick to some fundemental way of interpretaion(as said before, one word or phrase can have many differnet meanings)by allowing the scriptures to live through the Holy Spirit,it allows one to explore.genesis may be an interpretaion of creation inspired by God, theres no sure way of knowing.and if we did know for sure, then that would just take away the fun of God for me!
i always remember how Jesus encourages us to search, and questoin.
oh, and im against the death penalty, and have also experienced negativity within the church(being judged, chucked out ect)but have also found love and acceptance in the church im at now.thing is,i belive in Jesus, not the "religion".
i dont know, maybe that all made sense?

Genesis

Thanks for bringing this up...I've always been intrigued by the word Elohim, which I believe implies pluarality. I'm open to the idea of there being a feminine dimension to the Godhead (and cetainly Jung was). Another phrase from the first page of Genesis that interests me is the one about stars being made for signs and for seasons. For me this helps to valiadte astrology, which is something that most fundamentalists find unnaceptable!

I could be wrong,Lilith is part of the judaic mythology and was created out of the same dust as adam, therefore she was an equal, she proved to be a bit of a feminist and was banished.
In order that Eve would be subservient to Adam she was created from Adams rib. It does rather undermine the idea of an omnipotent all knowing god.
A literal interpretation of the bible has never appealed to me however the message within what are to me overworked translations is as valid now as ever.
