Thanks Lightning, I'll do a search for Louden and see what's available.

The name is spelled with an "o", "Loudon."

Yes, Martha was with us in Hydra, a guest of Lorca. Martha sang Tower Of Song at Open Mic, and both she and Lorca sat with us in the harbour (at the Roloi) till the wee hours, singing, playing, laughing, and drinking. Henning, you played her guitar, I think... or did she play yours?? Very down to earth woman, friendly and approachable, same as she was at the Brooklyn tribute.

I am trying not to say anything negative, but Rufus irritates me very much. I will stop with that.

Just heard that Rufus sings in duet with Dido on Bridget Jones 2 soundtrack? I adore Dido, I really should find that soundtrack

I'm really frustrated that Want Two still hasn't been released in this country yet.

I now have "Want Two" and must say it's had an immediate and very favourable impact on me. I find it hard to describe in overall style terms. It is quite a varied, engrossing and beautiful album, with many exquisite touches and moving moments throughout, yet with room for a certain (trademark?) flamboyance. There are gorgeous neo-classical segments through to more up-beat 'musical' or cabaret style material. The two bonus tracks are also sung in French. 8)

Anyway, the Weekend Australian reviewer (who also did the wonderful article on LC, which I described in the 'Leonard in the Aussie limelight' thread) gave it a 4.5 star rating and I'd have to go along with that!

A bonus with the product I bought is a DVD of his concert "Live at the Fillmore", which has whet my appetite to see him perform next weekend (Sydney) and then the following one (Brisbane)! :D

Cheers :)

Dylan isn't your avatar picture of a very young Nina Simone? Why did you choose that?

Ah, Want Two isn't released in Europe yet? That's why I cannot find it anywhere! Now I recollect I didn't see any reviews yet, so that must be it.

Lightning,

Nina Simone, sadly no longer with us, is a person who I admire greatly. Her music, her spirit, her determination, her beliefs, everything.

From all the musicians I listen to, Nina Simone has always been there for me. No matter how tough things sometimes get, and they do get tough, I know I can put on a Nina Simone record and I know all will be OK.

I was lucky enough to attend two concerts, in 1999, And Nina was just amazing. The feelings she aroused in me in those two concerts were so deep rooted in my soul, that it was life affirming for me to have them brought to the surface.

Thanks for noticing, and thanks for asking. Do you like Nina?
