As I remember, Florence was a relatively short show, with a 9.30 pm start and a curfew (your favourite subject mm) as the concert took place in a residential square. Something had to give.

He didn't sing Marianne for the first two concerts in Kilmainham 2008.
He did on the third night :D :D
I like to think that inspired him to continue singing it. He must have heard the huge crwod singing it loudly on the way out from Kilmainham that night.......like an Anthem :!:
It will be forever my favourite! :)

A very correct list indeed :)
I was deeply touched by the very good arrangement of a few songs:

Come Healing: very light and fragile. Bublitchi is indeed a master on the violin!
Alexandra leaving: A much slower version, sung by Sharon. (Leonard on the side admiring her singing abilities!)
The Partisan: The whole band stood behind Leonard in half a circle. It was a tribute to poetry!
Famous Blue Raincoat: just marvellous. :)

(No critics: there were no bad songs, these were just amazingly good!)

I enjoyed the concert extremely a lot! It was now the third time I could see Leonard perform and this was the top for me! (before in Bruges '08 and Ghent '10). It was a pleasure to see the opening of the world tour, a band that had pleasure in playing the songs, a Leonard that was dancing in small steps from time to time, and a never ending bis... 12 o'clock was curfew hour in Ghent, and blame the mayor for that! : ) It could have lasted longer...

But no worries: Leonard promised that he would stay touring till the rust of his weelchair, helped by God and two policemen!

Greeting,
Maarten

LeonardWhoHelpMe wrote:I have only barely heard of this guy, and i'm being taken as a guest to a concert of his soon. I don't want to sit there like a lemon, clearly unfamiliar with his songs. That would make me an awful companion for the concert. If I'm not enjoying it I think it will spoil my companion's enjoyment of the concert a bit, so can you give me a bit of headsup here. List off what he's played that you can remember? Then I can play them on youtube and at least be familiar with the songs. Songs always grown on me, and if I haven't heard them before I go, I know I will feel quite wooden sitting there. Thank you in advance to anybody on this forum who takes the time to help a poster is not really a fan, and who only wants to make another LC fan's experience of concert more enjoyable.
What an incredibly thoughtful friend you are.
Honestly I think that you will enjoy the concert, even if shhhh, you're not the biggest fan. The energy and the band are incredible and Leonard is himself very likable/charismatic. There's something about the music live that allows you to feel it very differently then hearing a recording of it - which, if your companion is a romantic one, may have its benefits.

I hope you have a good time and it would be great if you came back after your concert to give us your impressions.

Many thanks everyone. That's interesting, and I'm hoping the tour will return to the UK next year for a decent run and I'll be able to catch up then.

So - six from Old Ideas, mainly at the top of the show and then a clutch of old favourites. Excellent. I had to google Save the Last Dance (Drifters....) and Coming Back to You (Various Positions) and I need to refresh my memory of that one. Some big songs on that album, but I can't bring this to mind right now.
