You are absolutely right, thanks! It was Amen, and this line exactly (in the second strophe).

BTW, Doron, you're right about "the Eye of the Camps". It was sung so, and your thoughts make sense. The more I listen to Amen, the more I think about it as an Apocalyptic Dance Me (that was my early impression: viewtopic.php?f=55&t=31278#p295345).

P.S. Through YOUR horror line was sung in Boston, December 15, 2012.

Great review of Pula, Doran
A very clear case of anal sex!
Almost looks as though Dino had 'dared him' to change 'careless' back to 'anal', and acknowledged it when Leonard sang it
That is of course pure and probably unverifiable conjecture!
Leonard's work resonates

Well, before everyone start blaming "a hardened city" (LCForum, 2010) of Moscow and/or Dino Soldo, let me pay your attention to the facts.
The original line was sung in at least three countries: France, then Germany, then Russia. It happened in September-October 2010, during a short period (about three weeks).
Maybe, we should speak about seasonal exacerbation rather than conspiracy? My apologies; irony alert activated.

Thank you, Goldin, & wow, your knowledge/memory of details astounds!!

And if "seasonal exacerbation" (), during Sept./Oct. 2010, is what induced the return to "anal sex", then dare I hope for another such episode of exacerbation in Sept. 2013?? That alone would make my trip to London worth every financial & geographical inconvenience. I was in Marseilles & Lille in 2010, & don't remember it making an appearance there, so I guess it was in a different French city (unless I just don't remember, for which I would be very ashamed. . .). I would love to be there for such an exacerbation - I've missed the sharpness of that very poignant original lyric, these past 5 years. . .

Jan Vail's comment to a HOAG post:
We definitely had anal sex in Caen

We definitely had anal sex in Caen
and to think that there are some cities where venue security gets upset when people just come forward and waltz in the aisles...

Thanks for confirming this, and thank you all for your comments. Can we now change the subject to oral sex? 8)

No, we can't. "Light As The Breeze" wasn't on the Pula set list. Or maybe we can. "The Darkness" was performed. Depends on one's interpretation.

Certainly "The Darkness", as well as "Chelsea Hotel" for the opposite direction. And "Light As The Breeze" was in the soundcheck...

Now we can discuss that little cup: is it actually golden or ruby? Or there are two (more??) different cups and LC sings about them alternatively?

As far as I remember, it was actual for pre-album performances.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of all those variations. Well, I guess that once you're in your cups, as they say in English, you're bound to get a little dizzy.

Thank you, Goldin, for the link to HOAG's website & for posting the quote about the anal sex orgy in Caen. After I had submitted my post with the comments regarding the French cities, I actually remembered that Caen had already been mentioned as the site of that Great Event. But I'm glad I had forgotten, because I loved your response!

I'm sure you will remember this: at the Venice soundcheck (I think that was in 2009, but I could be wrong), where Leonard first premiered a verse or two of Darkness, it was a "sticky little bud"; the line was in a different place in the song (he wasn't drinking from it at that point), but I think the reference was to the same place in the cosmic order of things; the line was, "don't need your sticky little bud/ don't need your alcohol. . ." I wondered if Leonard would ever sing that line in a public concert (& hoped he would, but. . .). So then the "little bud" apparently morphed into a "golden cup", then a "ruby cup", then a "little cup", & then just a "cup". . .so why has Leonard been changing & then minimalizing the description? Who knows, maybe this way it's up to us to "personalize" this magical morphing Cosmic Cup. . .

Editing: the Venice soundcheck 2009:

So it was more than 2 verses & the "sticky little bud" & the "ruby cup" & "little cup" were co-existent. And at the end, it sounds like he is singing, "don't need your sleepy little bud". . .

I do love that version (ending with the Quazimodo bells, as it was noted by someone on the Forum). There are both "little ruby cup" and "sticky little bud" (what a cool images, by the way).

Three different recordings of the original Darkness are #7-9 in this playlist.

P.S. I'm not sure about the word "sleepy"...
