There has been a new thread opened with a statement of apology from the Mekong Sessions which of course is to be welcomed - I am listing it below.

My only comment is that it apears to be in part contradicting what was posted from Robert Kory so someone needs to co-ordinate statements and communications so as mixed messages are not sent out as this implies a concert is still planned for PP.

The Mekong Sessions – Friday 12 November 2010.

The Mekong Sessions wishes to again apologise to all fans and supporters for the postponement of the scheduled concert in Phnom Penh on 27 November 2010.

In the first instance, the Mekong Sessions conveys our utmost appreciation and respect to master songwriter Leonard Cohen and his band and sincerely wish them the very best for the remaining concerts on the 2010 World Tour.

All ticket holders who purchased tickets from the Mekong Sessions are now being refunded in full. The Mekong Sessions will not be entering into further debate over the reasons for this disappointment on online discussion forums.

Our sincere thanks go to all our steadfast supporters in Phnom Penh and around the world, most especially Jarkko Arjatsalo, Marie Mazur and Linda Lee Sturgess.

I understand just a little of the hurt and sense of betrayal that the people with tickets to Phnom Penh are feeling as I went through a little of it myself after the Hawaii cancellation.

Just in case Scocoh is right about "imminent locking" of this thread, I want to say how much I agree with you.

I think the verbal assaults launched here on people with every right to complain have been disgraceful.

None of the "attackers" lost money on cancelled concerts, I'm sure. Many of us reading these posts did, in my case because of the March cancellations. At least then the reason ( when EVENTUALLY revealed! ) made it clear that cancellation was unavoidable and nobody's fault. There was time and opportunity to get to other concerts, and such is the power of LC as a performer and the quality of the show that, as Shakespeare put it, "all losses are restored and sorrows end". Sadly, few of those disappointed by the recent cancellations will have that experience. The least they deserve is to be listened to with respect,
instead of being savaged - a reminder of the origin of the word "fan" - some fans become fanatical.

i just want to say if there is anyone out there who was supporting this concert because it was a charity concert,and not just to see Leonard,then a lot of charities did miss out because of this cancellation.if anyone wishes to help a cambodia charity then just go to facebook and look at "shining light charity" page and you are welcome to write to me if you wish to help feed or clothe people or build a home for people living in danger. Anyone who wishes to donate will receive photo updates and emails of how their money is being used.we are currently raising money to move 2 families away from a landslide area in a village near Battambang,about 4 hours from where Leonard was due to play.
i too wanted to go to the concert but the price was closer to 6 months wages for a cambodian than 1 month as someone here suggested.so im not surprised it was cancelled.i don't see why a charity event for cambodia can't still go ahead in a venue whose location and size is more convenient for those worried about losing so much money.
