Laura and anybody else interested in the Finnish language and culture there is an interesting radio programe in the usual Sunday afternoon poetry slot on BBC radio 4 this afternoon at GMT 4:30pm,

Storyteller and musician Nick Hennessey travels to Finland to explore the mythical world of the country's national poem, The Kalevala.
First published in 1835, this 50-chapter epic inspired a 19th-century artistic awakening and remains a cornerstone of contemporary Finnish culture. Speaking to musicians and critics, Hennessey finds out how the poem helped shape the nation.

You never know it may even go some way to explain the Finnish definition of 'patience'.....ta ken

jarkko wrote:Hm... Google translator seems to have problems with the Finnish language. A more precise translation would be:

   There is no mention of Santa Claus in your Finnish text! You are teasing us; nice try! :D

Here is an even more precise translation:
"Welcome to the Forum, Viivi. Trying hard, we'll see if it succeeds. It depends on whether the tour next year includes the Nordic countries."

Having said that, I prefer your translation to mine Jarkko, very Christmassy! :D

I hope Ljubljana will work out but if not, Budapest or Vienna would be perfect for that 17th March :) Please...?

the 17th March is St Patrick's Day. Surely a couple of concerts in Ireland would be more appropriate

Jarco and co..
the beautiful flower gardens of Kirstenbosch, on the green slopes of table mountain,Cape Town, will be a great open air venue to visit.
Cliff Richard chose for this venue many years ago...
will be different from all the big crazee venues as sport stadiums. will be a poetic and beautiful adventure.
please cheer for my gesture, all you Cape wine and poetry lovers.

Apparently Javier Mas has recently confirmed that they will perform in South-Africa in 2010 (as well as in The East, South-America, Australia and New Zealand).

Hi remote1,

Thank you for your well wishes. It's not actually official from Jarkko so I shouldn't get so excited yet - but I can't help it!

As well - Happy New Year to you and all forum members.

Oho, olipas mukava yllätys. Ei ole tullut käytyä pitkään aikaan foorumilla, oon vain silloin tällöin tarkistanut onko uusia paikkoja kiertue-sivulla. Toivotaan parasta! Varmaan kerrot heti täällä, jos jotain kerrottavaa tulee? Enemmän kuin mielelläni antaisin poikamme isovanhemmille hoitoon :D

Please, Leonard, come to Finland!
