There have been those who in recent times have been sat on the Eurostar going nowhere.

The fact that I am in Lille regardless and they have Leonard Cohen live on the free hotel music system in Suite Hotel Lille, so I CAN listen to Leonard tonight if I want to, not quite the same though

I too should be at the Lille concert right now. But in fact I have a heavy cold, which is trying to turn itself into flu, so perhaps it is as well the concert was cancelled. And I didn't lose much money because I bought an incredibly cheap Eurostar non-refundable return ticket.

In the Los Angeles area, we are fortunate to have two NPR radio stations . One (1) plays classical music. The other (2) is a mixture of classical music and talk radio on Monday through Friday. I was in my car on the way home from the Bridge Club and happened to be listening to NPR 2. Lo and behind, I heard the very recognizable intro bars of "Closing Time" and wondered who would be singing it. I revved up the volume all the way. My Ford Goodenough was booming. (I like my music bass plus and treble minus.)
It was Leonard Cohen.
When I arrived home and caught up with my newspapers, I read a notice that NPR (2) had switched just that week from classical to a mix of pop/rock, "...adult album alternative...the best public radio format to reach the broadest audience". Very lucky timing for me. I certainly adored that random LC moment.

I recently met up with an online friend for the first time, we met through our mutual interest in Leonard. We went into a cafe for lunch, and while we were sitting down, actually talking about Leonard at that very moment, a song from Dear Heather came on the sound system ... spooky! I have lived in London all my life and how often have I overheard Leonard's songs playing? Only once before. (I heard Waiting For The Miracle in a pub in Greenwich).

One of my YouTube videos of Leonard recently got the comment: 'OMG those bare feet! Yes he was young in this picture, but even today I would gladly do things with those feet that we both would remember for a lifetime.' Made me chuckle when I was at work anyway...

Last night I was here on the forum and the television was droning in the background when I heard a male voice say "Leonard Cohen". Of course I ran in to see what was going on. I only caught part of the reference to Leonard he had made - something about throwing a typewriter into the Agean Sea! It was on a live fun show called "My Generation". I wish I had heard the first part.

Obviously this kind person must work as a chiropodist or reflexologist.

Yes, they must have developed some revolutionary new foot massage technique

Sorry Hydriot, I somehow managed to miss your post until now.
I also saw him a couple of weeks ago (again on Saturday afternoon) outside Boots in Cambridge singing Suzanne again. Of course, he gets a reward from me too. He had quite a decent audience because there are a few seats in that area. Like most poeple I am usually in a hurry. What is this life if full of care.... Next time I think I will hang around a bit longer, maybe buy a sandwich in Pret and flop on a seat and listen to 'our' mutual busker.
There was another busker further down who was doing wicked things to a Beatles song - he got nothing but extremely dirty looks off me, he was awful.
Hope your daughter is enjoying her time in Cambridge, when the summer arrives it is lovely.

On Friday I had a wonderful first day in the morning I came to work, and then it came. The voice on the radio sounded to me only. His voice and the song has to -bear to heaven. Yes, it was Leonard,it was the song Ain't No Cure For Love. It was something great, I remain impressed. Colleagues looked at me, why that made me smile, then I tell them that I just heard on the radio voice of Leonard. And they that who is it? So I tell them, let them listen to You Tube, and they know.
-------------------------
And today again, Sunday, this was in the evening on the radio NÖ (Nieder Östereich), I just made coffee and sat in my chair, Leonard sang, Suzanne . So I have, three days to hear Leonard two times on the radio.
It's sensational, I had a wonderful weekend.

I only caught the end of the broadcast of a radio show today here in Ireland that gave tickets away to the Sligo concert to a listerner. The man that won was delighted and said that he was going down the street about 21 years ago with his little tape recorder playing 'The Partisan' a bit too loud when a girl came up to him to talk to him. 21 years later they are happily married! Awwwwww!

If he was indeed winning a competition about LC stories I think thats really a winning story!

Also wondering if you are a member here 'man who won tickets'??!
