I wish you the most heartfelt and happiest of birthdays. I have experienced such deep emotions and learned so much from you and your music over the past 40 years, since I was a teenager .... I've always been completely in love with your music and now I've been lucky enough to see you perform live twice this year, in London and in Bilbao, and I'm even more in love. You are just wonderful and to have seen you perform live has been totally amazing. I have heard often that your concerts are the best live performances ever seen, and I've heard this from performers themselves .... who see many many performances.

I confer with all the great things that have been written below. I'll never be able to convey adequate thanks to you. You have taught me so much. I listen now to your songs that I listened to 40 years ago, and I learn different things. What wisdom.

I wish I was in Barcelona tonight. I'll be dreaming of being there of course.

Dearest Mr. Cohen, what a revelation you have been to me! Seeing your courage and grace for myself at one of your concerts this summer and being transported by the joy that your musical gift (and those of your fellow musicians) brought to all of us, I was inspired (at the age of 50!) to somehow find a way to make music myself, if on a very humble scale in comparison. Having purchased my first guitar, I have signed up for guitar and voice lessons and how fitting it is that my first lesson is later today, on your birthday, when I begin to learn enough to be able to play your gorgeous songs
