Absolutely agree with you - so why have you bothered becoming a member now - simply to up your chances of getting a ticket?![]()
You really are talking bolllocks, comrade.

Red Poppy -
Mock me if you will but leave the turkey alone! Some of us Irish are very proud of our signing muppet, just goes to show that you don't even have to be alive to make something of your life
i'll be sittin on my couch with my popcorn enjoying every glorious line of poetry that comes from his beak
And yes I have adopted an americanism, but my doctor said I'm allowed one a day for a good cause.
As for my name and being a Pseud - you might just be right
who knows, i mean you've worked it all out!!!!! Damn!! I was nearly sure I was a fan until you came along with your words of wisdom - but sarcasm aside this is silly
Foiled
Good luck with the tickets Red Poppy
we could all be laughing about this on tuesday when were getting our our ticket confirmation by email or whatever other means you get them
lizzytysh - I'm sure there are touts on this site but lets just keep positive that with all the passion display here that we all get a ticket - at least we'll have two chances with the presale and general sale, nothing more we can do until monday 11/3 (that one's for you RED Poppy, one a day, doctors orders!!)

undertow - thank you, thank you, thank you for your graciousness.
Jimmyprofit - I don't think Tuesday will bring any booking info - just a list of the gigs. I think the booking may be further down the road, so you'll have to stay posted (or not, as the case may be).
Comrades undertow et al - I just am not convinced by all the sad stories, sob stories, I used LC LP's as rattlers in my pram, my mother brought me to Greece to see the hallowed footsteps stuff.
And before you accuse me (great song title that) don't be in such a rush to dismiss the forum and the huge breadth of threads that run here - not all of them up their own arse, to quote undertow. (Did you just come in on the last album?
)
Hopefully we will get tickets but I really hope I'm not stuck beside some of the storytellers from here at a gig. (And, doubtless, the feelings are reciprocal)
Can't you just hear it: "And THEN my Dad called my Mum to the side of my cradle and said: "Come over to the window, my little darling." And she came and stood like a bird on a wire and my dad said: "So long Marianne..." And since that day I've been a Cohen fan and this opportunity is just, well, life-changing....."

Red Poppy - that Dylan?? Eh??
How many penalty points has he got now???
Yeah we'll see for the booking info, usually with ticketmaster ireland they start the fan presale 2 days before the tickets go on sale at 9am - they (presumably) will be going on sale to the general public on friday as per the listing that they took down - so I'm hopefully we can get the tickets on wednesday morning

Welcome, Jimmy
[your choice of name did add to 'some' kind of impression, but then some just have that type of humour, right
?] and Undertow
and Svennybenny
and Shankly
and Davih
and Wugwell
and Lorri
and, again, Tarin
... and everyone else now posting here, on other pages, and in different threads and sections...
. My tendency to welcome newcomers has been made fun of in the past, yet other Forum members started joining me in doing that, so the need has not felt so great. At this very moment, however, the need has never felt greater. I've been part of the present problem and I prefer to be part of the solution.
Welcome to all Leonard Cohen fans
!!! It's flat-out impossible to assess your level of 'devotion,' and now that issue has for me faded into irrelevancy. Going forward seems a whole lot more important now. We might as well presume that you are a loyal fan, no matter from whence you arrived... or, if you've only recently discovered Leonard, that you soon will be and will remain so.
This could have been a very effective way to assess how many Leonard Cohen people are really out there. As Tom has noted in another thread, this is an exceedingly good sign. As you have suggested, Jimmy, I am going to take the positive view and try taking this at face value. What do I have to lose? What happens is what will happen. The rancor, animosity, and acrimony aren't doing anyone any good... and certainly not Leonard or his management. Do they not already have enough to focus on trying to pull this tour together, select female back-up singers, and practice? Do any of them need our creating still another issue for them to deal with?
A couple weeks ago, no one had a clue of what was to come, with that generous offer, and we were all just anxiously awaiting the tour news. The one thing I know for sure is that I will need to be arranging for more than a domestic flight. Lucky you Canadians who will see Leonard on your home turf. There are tons of Canadian fans, so the multiple venues there make a whole lot of sense. The Europeans have demonstrated more discerning taste with their embracing of Leonard, far moreso than the American folk have managed. So, the festival appearances there make sense, in that context. Hopefully, Leonard will return for some smaller-venue appearances in the winter, when Heather's legs will be white. Perhaps, one day, he'll even be able to do something in the U.S., even though it's not appearing that way. Have ticket, will travel, for me, though.
For years, many have been saying, "If only Leonard would tour again, I'd go anywhere I had to, to see him!" Now, the miracle has come and we have that chance. So much better to do it with smooth feelings of healing than the ripped shreds of pain. I look forward to sitting next to whoever it is I'm sat next to... and hopefully we will both have paid straight-up prices for our tickets. Don't think for a minute, though that, as the commercial says about one's American Express card, I'll be leaving home without my binoculars. Never know when they might come in handy.
I apologize to anyone whose feelings I hurt with anything I've said. I tried to be reasonable in my presentation, but I may not been successful in that. Panic and fear have never been the best motivators for constructive action, exchange, or communication.
Here's hoping for the best for all of us. I'm concerned that I may be at work when actual ticket booking begins. I may be at the phone, but I may not. So, I'm shifting some concerns, even as we speak. I also have limited time to book overseas flights and try to find a deal I can afford. These are very real, real-life concerns. Oh, and then a hotel, yes. Well, I have much more to focus on than the tickets. For one thing, there's a nominating process going on here that's very dear to my heart.
So, all that said, I sincerely wish everyone well.

Re: Advance ticket booking for Files/Forum members
Knickerless, it is not clear from your toy chucking post, whom thou dost attack? Moi or Paula.
My repost to your less than gracious submission is to concur with Red Poppy's remark that should I ever find myself next to the like of you at any event, I for one would feel very uncomfortable. I've tried to answer your toy chucking remark with as little a venomous streak as the one you appear to be happy with.
I shall use an analogy which a good friend has used to describe the current situation.
A few of us have stood for hours at a bus stop waiting for our chosen bus. Suddenly it is announced that a bus is due in a few minutes. Immediately after that announcement is made the world and his poor suffering family appear out of no-where and muscle their way, onto the bus without a care or thought for those who have waited patiently for so long.
Most of the Beautiful Losers are the sort of people who will wait patiently, quietly and in a well mannered way in the hope of getting on board the bus. Only to be muscled out of the way by the mob that descends around them.
Most of the Beautiful Losers form the well mannered, orderly queue, whilst you my dear Knickerless are a very close facsimile to the creatures of the mob.
You have every right to express your views about members of this forum. It is a fair and an open minded group of lc fans, and the group accepts differing views. However, if you are given the opportunity to express your views, then we are given the opportunity to respond to those views. Words cannot describe my view of you.
By the way, I shall not be applying for a ticket. Those Beautiful Losers who have known me for a long time, will understand when I say that, I will not be 'able' to attend the events.
My concern over the ticket allocation discussion is not one of me missing out, but of how much of a 'dog's breakfast' this thread has turned into since certain 'genuine, lurking, life-long' fans appeared here with their stories.
Knickerless, you have been honest in your reason for registering, which is commendable in its own way, but some of the tales we are reading are simply way beyond the pale.
Knickerless, if your remarks were directed at me, you are a sad case! If your remarks were directed at Paula, shame on you. You admit to pushing your way in to get a chance of a ticket, but then turn on someone who has been standing patiently in that 'bus queue.'
The fact that you've not been a member of the Forum till now is something of a blessing. They say that every cloud has a silver lining.
I wish you luck in your attempt to get a ticket. There, I said we are fair minded people in this Forum.

I just want to see Cohen in concert. Ive wanted this since I started listening to him, and when I heard that he would be touring again, I was ecstatic. Is that so hard to believe?

Good luck to everyone trying to win their inter-battle.

Re: Advance ticket booking for Files/Forum members
Hello to all - old and new - what matters is our common love and appreciation for our favorite singer, poet.
I am hopeful that all of the angst that has been expressed will be relieved once the actual concert venues and dates are announced and the tickets go on sale.
I am sure that we all know where we will be on March 11 - although it would be nice to have a clear idea as to when it will be announced and then we can all calculate our time zone differences and be ready.
I had a bit of a scare when I tried to log in. I couldn't remember what I used as my user name. It took a while but I finally figured it out. Kind of scary to keep getting kicked out when you try to log in and then figure to just re-register but can't do that either.
I hope that there will be a collective sigh of relief across the internet when we all know when and where Leonard will be playing and we have our tickets in our hands. I plan on doing some traveling and don't much care where I need to go.
Peace to all.

Re: Advance ticket booking for Files/Forum members
I just read a newsletter from Marie Mazur who was saying a limited number of tix will be available to ''Forum Members" and she added 'so get on over and register as a member'! She of the Leonard camp. Some may not feel it fair, but hell, life is not 'fair'. We don't always get what we want when we want it.
A clip from those who don't get Marie's newsletter:
Dear Friends,
This is updated information about the tour announcement. I believe that .01 Greenwich Mean time would be 8:01 p.m. EDT on March 10 --
Leonard will be touring with his band in Canada in May/June and in Europe after that. The tour schedule (all confirmed venues) will be announced on March 11 on this site at 00.01 am Greenwich Mean Time (UTC). More concerts will be added when information is available.
There will be a special advance ticket booking open only to the registered members of our Leonard Cohen Forum, thanks to Leonard and his management. We have a limited block of excellent seats to selected venues, available only to our members during a short period before the official ticket sale begins. The number of tickets each member can buy will also be limited, and the tickets will be non-transferable. All instructions will be posted on March 11.
So, go to the Forum now to register if you are not already a member --

I will send out an email as soon as the tour schedule is posted, but of course, you can now go to the Forum and read it for yourself as well.
Looking forward to seeing you all at a Cohen concert,
Marie
Linda.

. Marie's site with a loyal following was one of the solid six [if not nine] possibilities of where people might be migrating from to come here, when I mentioned that it wasn't all about the Forum.

...and I want to add that I have been working together with my friend Marie for years with our sites, and we discussed the contents of her newsletter before it was mailed. Many forum members receive also her newsletter, but of course there are other genuine Cohenites who don't visit this board; with Marie's letter they are getting the information as soon as it is available!
