Esther, take a deep breath, San Jose Costa Rica is not in North America where the last leg of the tour is rumored to be :)

Thank you for being a voice of reason Marsha. I'm just a little hyper! Clearly I need some time at Mt Baldy. with Leonard.

ok, I'm dangerously giddy... no more posts from me tonight!

UGH. I certainly hope not. A hockey arena for LC's final concert - no way, Jose. (haha)
Starting off this year's North American leg at the beautiful, historic Beacon Theater on the East coast and ending THE TOUR on the West coast at the elegant Performing Arts Center, designed by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, would be far more fitting.

Hey, the setting and climate are good. They can put screens outside for the standing aficionados to sing their little hearts out without distrubing the fans inside. But, no beer available outdoors. No facilities either. haha. Cancel that idea.

Maybe it is Las Vegas (Red Rocks) to make it up to the people who had to miss the rearranged concert. I felt so sorry for them. Maybe they will get priority in booking. Just a nice thought.

WOO HOO, what a schedule, so many cities that people were hoping for especially in Florida and other parts of the south. Also a few in Ohio! Plus I think someone was hoping for Philadelphia and of course there was San Jose at the end! I am thrilled that Leonard and the band are finishing off the tour in the USA. We waited for him to come here the first time and now he will coming back. I am very happy and grateful for this.

Jarkko,
am I the winner?
I said San Jose' as my second guess, but I don't remember if I was the first...
Good news anyway (as I had my flight - reserved many months earlier - from SFO right on April 13th, during LC first show in OAK!)

Andrew,

I believe you are indeed the winner! However, with Jarkko now in the wilds of Finland on holiday I'm not sure when you will be notified officially, unless one our other moderators will do so. Congratulations! Look forward to seeing everyone in San Jose...I'm going online to check out hotels now!

All the best,
Diana

*DEAD*

and I'm just reading this now because I did manage (incredibly) to fall asleep around 3 am, before the announcement.

I can't stop smiling!!!!!

Leonard in Vegas...omg...what will he say during Hallelujah...I didn't come to Sin City to fool you? 8) It's just too perfect.

And then must fly home very next day to San Jose...and probably weep through that whole show. It will be good to have "many friends" there. :):):)

Thank you Leonard and band and crew. Thank you Jarkko. We are sooooo lucky!!!

Hi mnkyface,

So you are thinking of doing both Vegas and San Jose! Me too! Also NYC. I was thinking it would be crazy though to go to the Vegas show and then rush up the the Bay area for the last concert, but think I will. Wouldn't it be nice if Leonard and the crew allowed a few of us to hitch a ride on their private jet? ;-) 8) :D

Guess at some point we'll have to plan some sort of San Jose meet-up because I think many, many fans will be there, even from Europe and maybe Down Under. This is one concert we don't want to rush though..... :(

Take care,
Diana

Paula,
my guess was also a bit of a "wishful thinking", as the announcement of the first leg came after I already bought the (non refundable!) air tickets to Japan for a vacation last April.
So I was actually flying out of San Francisco while LC was on stage in Oakland on April 13th (I live in Oakland, by the way)!!
And this didn't make me happy.
Then, my idea was that - after an exhausting year and a half on the road - LC wanted to be close to home for the final show. And I know that he lives part in Montreal and part in L.A. But Jarkko already said that Montreal was not on the list. Therefore it had to be California.
It did not look right to me to have a final show in L.A. - musically speaking, it's not his "scene"...
Also, I thought the guys were going to be tired of travelling, and not willing to perform for small audiences (=theatres) anymore.
The tour then had to finish in 2009 no matter what, so it had to be a short final leg to maximize their time.
So, California - big venue - not L.A.
Final note: LC announced the tour last year in Palo Alto together with Philip Glass (and I was in the audience). So a king of full circle, right? Not to mention Roscoe writing on his blog of coming back to the Bay Area...
Anyway, my first guess was San Diego, both because of the climate (always mild) and of the venue (there's a big outdoor venue in S.D. that they could have very well chosen).
When a second guess was allowed, then I immediately thought of the Bay Area.
Big venues here are:
- in Oakland, but LC already was at the Paramount... so not likely to come back again, either at the Arena or at the Coliseum (outdoor by the way, see below)
- in S.F. (there's only the Ballpark, but it's just too big - I saw the Stones there, and it was hard even for Jagger to "fill the space"), and it's outdoor (not a likely choice in late Nov / early Dic, when I was guessing the concert had to be scheduled)
- in Mountain View or Concord (same thing, more outdoor venues... brrrrr...)
- in San Jose', at the HP Pavilion
So, this was my "mental path", leading me to San Jose'.
Now, what I really need is some luck with the tickets (and a little help from G...d and/or his/her substitute on Earth, from Finland).

Good luck everyone anyway.

Andrew

P.S. This (if everything goes well...) will be my second LC show, after Montreal in 1993.

Beargains/Andrew - congratulations, you indeed are the winner of the quiz!! Please PM or email me your snail mail address!
I am sure San Jose will be a great experience for all who have chance to be there; after all it is the last concert of the whole
World Tour 2008-2009.
- Next we take care of the second prize (the winner will be chosen randomly).

Wahoo Andrew! Congratulations!

It was fun to read your train-of-thought to San Jose, I would never have guessed that city!
