Unfortunately listening to Leonard does tend to bring out the selfishness in people . That's the genious of the man

This is just a wonderful thing to have arranged including the special tickets in all price ranges, the VIP reception and, of course, the concert itself. It is just killing Anne & I as we are not going to be able to attend as we have a prior commitment. If it didn't involve disappointing a lot of family members, we would just chuck it and come to New York. We will certainly be looking forward to all of the reports from all the fortunate ones who will be able to make it.
And we still hope to attend some other concerts in the next leg of the tour including one or more in NYC so we hope to be able to catch up with our east coast friends then.
All the best,
Joe & Anne

Habie,
Thank you for your reply. You certainly did not cause me offense. I was just posting in the service of accuracy.
Wishing you well,
Anne

Habie wrote:One of my favourite memories from the Fall Tour was the moment, in Birmingham, when Leonard replied to the crowd's 'We Love You!' shouts by saying, with a huge smile, 'I'm very fond of you too - as time passes, I get fonder and fonder...'
This concert feels very much like a gift, from Leonard to his fans. Not many artists give that impression.
I hope Leonard has a clear sense of how much pleasure he's already brought us last year.
It's definitely America's turn now - Leonard is a Prophet in All Lands, not just in Canada. I was thinking about the article I read that he's always been more popular in Europe than in the US (as opposed to Canada I imagine), which is the case for many artists from English-speaking countries despite the language barrier etc.
The British film director Ken Loach can hardly get his films shown in the UK, but they always play long runs in France etc. Same with Woody Allen).
Coming back to Feb 19th - can't wait to hear about the atmosphere there will be at this concert.
Re Lorca's Tour Photos - I'd love to see them so much! I love her work, and love backstage photos most of all - Jarkko, I'm sure that if they receive any other kind of public showing or online availability, you will let us know.
I have a strong image in my mind at this moment, of Leonard, on tour, smiling.
I agree with you Birmingham was a great concert and so was manchester in June '08 the man is a genius:D

I envy everybody who is able to attend. Unfortunately I don't think I am going to make it. It should have been two weeks later...
However, there are more concerts coming and I hope to be at at least one of them.
I still have the memories of three beautiful concerts.
Thank you to everybody for making this special concert happen and thank you for this great thread which was so much fun.
Have a nice evening everybody, Christel

Will anyone think it strange to know that when I read this announcement at work today, tears began to fall from my eyes?
My newly dubbed fiance and I will be making the trip down from Maine to spend our Valentine's celebration in NYC, for me to see LC for the first time, and her to see the city for the first time.
We are both uncontrollably excited. She has been a Leonard fan recently, hearing me work on some covers, as well as falling in love with "Dance Me," even going so far as to buy my the sheet music so I could learn to play it at our wedding!
I do have a question here: when referring to members, does this mean those that are registered on the forum?
As I said before, this will be a truly momentous occasion in our lives. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get tickets!

Time to pawn the last of the diamonds! - and maybe even some chrome parts from the old Triumph - (anybody else read Robert Pirsig too many times?)

I would just love to be able to go but no matter how much I try I just cannot afford to fly over for just one concert....believe me I have agonised for hours! Just pray that Leonard does several concerts in NY later in the year.

Jarkko, this is probably for you: We are five friends who would like to attend the concert in the Balcony 1 seats. Is there any way to get a row of 5 seats together? I'm thinking that it might be difficult with the 4-tickets-per-order limit.
Thanks for all your wonderful work!
***I have sent you a PM. The max limit per order is 4 and that cannot be changed / Jarkko ***

Hi,
I am so excited. I have been a fan since 1971 and have never seen him. For some reason yesterday afternoon a thought just popped in my head that I should check this site again and see if any US dates had been announced. WOW! I couldn't sleep last night, hoping the news would be about new dates, and this morning I was screaming when I saw it was a NY show. Can anyone tell me if we will need anything other than being a registered user here to access the presale on Wed. I want to be ready! Thanks, Lou Ann

What wonderful news!! Thank you Jarkko and Marie! And, thanks, of course, to Leonard Cohen, his management and AEG Live.
This is the best sort of thing to kick off the New Year!
I'm heartened and excited to hear people's plans - trips to NYC from all over, first visits, Valentine's treats - all magic!!
My professional schedule, I have tilted every which way today to see if it can fit a trip - and, I find, not for this date. I certainly hope the stars will align for somewhere along the road in 2009!!!
Thanks again, and best wishes to all!!
peace, Adrian

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and wanted to say a quick hello and that I am really looking forward to the NY concert. I have never seen LC perform, though I've been listening to him forever. Nice to be a part of this group!

anybody else notice that ticketmaster has the 'fan club' presale listed as 12pm on wednesday, not 2pm?
